Ok so I recently had a vacuum leak that just got fixed. Now it idles perfectly and 750rpms, but then problems. If I'm free reving in neutral it drops and idles fine, but if I'm driving and start to slow down, I pull it out of gear and it wants to die, the idle drops to 500rpms, somtimes 250ish and usually comes back but sometimes it doesn't. I thought it was from stepping on the brakes but I have a FD alternator so that shouldn't be the problem. It didn't do this before the alternator and emissions removal.

anyone?

the idle drop is because the brake booster acts like a little vacuum leak
did you remove the BAC valve? |
I still have the BAC valve. It wasn't this bad before I did anything though.
|
I disconnected the bac valve to test if its working, the FSM says that the rpms should drop, and car stay running. Well mine died. Does that mean the BAC is bad?

nope. give the bac 12v and a ground, and see if it clicks, if it does the valve is good |
BAC works. I was monkeying around with some help finally. And with it running I had my gf hold the rpms at 1500, when I unpluged the BAC it dropped to 1000rpms and would die if you let of the throttle. So I was spraying some brake cleaner around close it seemed liked the BAC was working to keep it running and not doing its "proper" job, well it seems like the egr blockoff is leaking or the lower intake manifold gaskets.

yea, you can also probably fix that problem by backing out the air bypass screw a bit, altho it would slightly raise your idle.
id probably just fix the egr leak https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif kevin. |
