Ah, hmm.

I had a sequence down when i put it on the car and had it right. U need to get rid of the bolt on the passenger side as it sits too high, do not use that as a guide. The driver side should be good. As for the fender wraps it should fit snug once everthing is on right WITHOUT using that bolt. I had it very tight, but you have to do it in sequence. Also on the first kit I made the metal brackets too long and had to bend them back. This time I think I over compensated, but if you bend them down the headlights will sit flush with the hood. It will need some adjustment still but I had it pat. I am also dissapointed with the hood line as it was great on my car. Hmm. Take that bolt out of the bumper/fender meet on the passenger side, line it up, then make the fender part fit snug, but looks like it already cracked. HMM. Try that and then get back to me.

its really easy, just tap the bolt back with a hammer, it will pull right out. It is the one I told you that was about half an inch too high. with it gone hopefully it will sit back down right.

jwteknix 09-17-2007 03:16 PM

lol thanx for all the help rob

dltreezan 09-17-2007 05:39 PM

I agree, the hoodline looks a little funny. Looked great on my car. Bodyshop should be able to get everything all good, I have seen far worse, but of course I wish it was perfect. I wish I could have been there to install it because I know of all the little quirks and how and why. I am interested to see how the rear and side fare up.

I dont know what else to tell you, take some time and always FULLY bolt it up when you fit it.

dont hold it in place and think its good because the side you hold might be good and unlike urethane

which will conform the side you aint holding is doing the opposite

I think I took Kevins on and off about a dozen times and STILL when I bolted it up for the last time I was not happy with it.

I know what I did wrong though and its an easy fix when I have to adjust his headlights for him.

my other advice is to prime it first with high build, block it, then re-prime with finishing primer, your going to need it to get

it straight and fill in all those voids and pinholes.

K I have a question for you, I have one of ur hoods, and no offense its total crap, I think it was one of the first ones you made. It came with a parts car I bought in Little Rock AR. The two peices have come unglued, what did you use to hold them together?

dltreezan 09-18-2007 02:12 PM

yeah something I made a few years back when I was trying to do two peices from a mold that was bent. I remember that hood. I got rid of that **** and don't make them anymore. Anyhow, you get some two part epoxy, some clips and join it back up the right way.

fc3s4utnv 09-19-2007 01:58 PM

Cool, your new ones look really good. How much you getting for just the headlights now?

jwteknix 09-19-2007 02:11 PM

sorry to thread jack lol. rob thanx for the advice i didnt see ur post til now. at the moment i have it off and is in the back of the car so i can bring it to work so the body guy can take a look at it. will definatly take ur advice about boltin it up. today i had a friend with me and was having him hold it for me but was frustating b/c like u said the other side was still flexing also knocked the bolt out of the right side and ahd i alingned alittle bit better then it was in the pix. thanx every one ill keep u guys posted

Yeah I stopped screwing with hoods. I really don't see why I would want to make something that big as my first project back in the days. I always seem to bite off more than I can chew. But I have made a few since that were much better, but still have stopped until I make a totally different design. I am going to change my focus and make some smaller, simpler, products that are easier to make and ship.

Also James, here is how I would mount the thing. I would hold it in my hand, line up the headlights first just so the metal brackets are above the radiator support then I would slide it down and let the part that wraps around the fender hold everything in place. At this point it sits a little high where it meets the fender, and that is when you bolt the part under the hood, then move the bolt into the fender in place. Oh well, the bodyshop will get her on right and plus that crack is there by the fender so it wont hold anything in place now.

jwteknix 09-23-2007 01:41 PM

would the stock bumper support work well this this dtreezan

jamesdean 09-25-2007 10:03 PM

jwteknix 05-14-2008 06:45 PM
