I've just put new o-ring seals in the rotor housings. The whole casing is back together now and the lower intake manifold is in place. When I turn the engine, I can look though the exhaust port with a flashlight and see the HYLOMAR blue gasket dressing on the apex seals. It is worst on the rear rotor. My question is after a get in through the exhaust port and clean off as much of the stuff as possible, will the remaining HYLOMAR burn off? Will my corner seals be damaged or stuck in place?

as long as you can start it it should burn right off

weird, did you clean the hylomar off the housings before installing the O rings using a razor blade?

I doubt it wil hurt things, probably is going to burn up right away... but I'm curious how you managed to get the hylomar in the engine like that?

I had the engine all the way apart just like it is shown in your pics. I just didn't know to clean it off like that.

What the hell is the purpose of hylomar anyways.. I used it on my rebuild, but what does it actually do? does it help seal or just keeps the orings and seals in place.?

j9fd3s 02-13-2003 02:25 PM

i use vaseline, no worries it holds the seals in place

So hylomar just does the same **** as the vaseline right.. **** that next time I won't use it then.. I can save a few bux.. I felt so perverted using vaseline on my engine, and liking it..

Hylomar also aids in preventing the o-rings from sticking
