Hello to you all, I am new to the forum and to rotary's. I have come across a 2nd gen RX-7 and was wondering what the more knowledgable gear heads thought of it. It is a goofy situation. The car is 1989 GTU with a 130k manual (of course, I wouldn't have it any other way). The motor is removed of the car, but the body and interior is clean with a clean carfax report. The only thing is that the motor may need to be rebuilt. The guy selling the car stated that it seized on him and he went back to find out if it would turn over or not. It did but wouldn't start so he took it to a local garage (not specializing in rotary's) and the mechanic said it was due to carbon build up and needed to be cleaned up. The guy says that it's been around 8 months since he saw it last and it still looked good. The mechanic wants $600 to pay for his time to remove the motor, however if I do get it the motor won't be in the car, let alone if everything can be found from when it was removed. So I ask of you, if this would be a good deal or should I just forget about it. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
