Well I have this '90 vert sitting here with no engine, and a ford 302 with a 4-speed auto tranny that would eventually go in. But my regular DD lost an apex seal, and I think it'll be cheaper completing the v8 swap than it would be to rebuild/replace the 13b in my coupe (which will wait till later).



The only road block I have right now is wiring, I'm really not sure what to keep and what to get rid of. This will be a carbed engine (don't actually have a carb yet). I want to do the wiring, then pain the engine bay (it's half red, half black right now, car is blue), then install the engine/tranny.

i think the only thing off the engine harness you need to keep are the wipers, 6 wires, 1 connector.

i'm not sure what else you need for the ferd, but theres a couple of 12v power wires in the harness, which might help, or not

So the engine harness (besides the wipers) is the only thing I'll really get rid of? Do I keep the ECU then? I guess I'll just start at the wiper motor, and try to follow the wires.



The only wiring I can see that the Ford crap needs is something for the alt, something for the one coil (or can I use an FC coil?), and I have no idea how an auto tranny works; I'm guessing there are some electrical connectors there, I haven't really inspected it.



I scored a stock FC auto shifter, auto pedals, and the clutch hole cover plate thingy from a guy doing a 5 speed swap (I gave him some stuff he needed), so I'm happy about that.

Yeah, I read every word of it, but the wiring aspect of it seemed way more complicated than I could understand, and I suck at looking at wiring diagrams.

there are 2 connectors under the dash that goes inta the engine harness, and one of these connectors just does the cruise control and the wipers, and then theres 1 wire on the other connector for the coolant temp guage. thats all you need, ecu can go. theres also power at those 2 connectors, might be handy but i dont know if you need it or not

What about the 2 blue connectors near the charcoal canister that go into the harness? Not sure where those lead, they go down, not into the firewall.

i really need to look at a car, but imma say cruise control?

Alright, got those 2 connectors under the dash loose, and pulled it out. Now about the 2 I mentioned:



look under the hole in the firewall, there's the blue currogated tube that heads south into the fender area. Those connect to the engine harness via the orange and blue plug under the brake line in this same pic.

Also, about the fuel pressure. On the grannys' site, they suggest adding a T in and looping the fuel return and feed lines. They say to obtain the correct fuel pressure by crimping the hard fuel line with vice grips. That sounds a little ghetto to me, could I just add the T, then use some sort of aftermarket fuel pressure regulator? Those are adjustable, right? I think I need 6 psi(?) not really sure off the top of my head.
