Well, i raced my best friend tonight, he has an 89 Grand Am with the quad-4,

no mods whatsoever, 5-speed, rust....well since neither of us have horns (:P)

we went on the third bright light blink, well i was ahead for a few seconds, till i hit 2nd, he took the lead from there on, now i never got more than 2 car lengths behind, but he still beat me, and he has no muffler :( i don't know a whole bunch about my car, but we both knew I shoulda won :P he stopped me after and asked me "What were u shifting at?" my reply "7-7.5k...." his reply "You shoulda wupped my ass........"................

you need to work on the engine before the system and body stuff,i have never seen the point of owning a fast looking car that runs like a civic

one problem, i live in norther missouri, most mechanics haven't heard of a rotary, let alone know how to rebuild or fix one :P If there's anyone out there near the Polo, Mo. area who know what they are doing...come find me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

get some tools and learn to follow detailed instructions...that's what I do, and I've managed to stay alive trying to fix stuff

Exactly I have done all my work on my car, except paint https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png . If theres anything you don't know, come ask here, this forum has been thee best resource for my car ever.

Yeah...I have also learned thatyou have to do the work yourself if you want it done right. The guys here know alot about the cars and can help you. I just took the transmission out of my car and put a new clutch in in just 2 days. Thats not bad since I have only worked on a 4runner. Just ask alot of questions if you get stuck. Its the only way to learn.

coupla problems ppl:

1. my 7 is my daily driver and i can't buy another car..

2.time is a HUGE issue i work 6-7 days a week...

3.no tools, no place to put em if i got em,...I live in govt. housing..

4.no garage, i don't know anyone who has a garage...and it's winter



as you can see God is conspiring against me...like I've said be4 he likes my car, but he hates me....

keep at it and just work away. not having a lot of time for an rx7 is big no-no. these cars demand ur attention. buy some tools and keep em in the trunk of ur car. nothing u can do about the winter situation and garage. good luck

Actually, those quad 4 engines have about 180HP at the flywheel stock compared to your 146 and the Grand Am is probably lighter too.... you shouldn't feel too bad, NA's ARE JUST NOT FAST IN A STRAIGHT LINE... doesn't matter if you shift at 4k, 7k, or 10k.
