Ok like i have said before my 86 sport was overheating and i was told to try and trouble shoot the overheating before I got crazy and ripped out the motor to replace it with my 88 SE's motor. I bought a new fan clucth. (BTW: I knew the old onw was good by the amount of air it would push) but to just eliminate the posibility. Then I put in a new mazda OEM thermostat and nothing. Then I put In a new radiator NOTHING ! ! ! ! $450 later i still have the same problem. I am so pissed ( at least I got almost a new colling system https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... )



I guess it is true what my mechanic said that the motor is loosing compression to the colling system. The car does not run good it starts rough compared to my 88 the sound on my 88 the start up sounds light and smooth on this one it is rough plus i have to give it gass to start it up. Also when i go out in first and give it gass it it sputters all the way up the rpm range and it even does it at idel and it idels like at 2K some times it wont stay on and I got to give it gass to over 2K to keep it on and other times it goes back down to 1.5 K so i am fet up and I am droping in my 88 SE motor till i can get some thing in the turbo persuasion https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Did you change your water pump? This might help, although I think you have other problems besides this.

yes check waterpump, is there any air in the system? get new radiator caps, they might not be holding the right pressure.. How do you know its overheating? the stock gauge is ****.....

i hope coolant seals aren't going like your mechanic says. Do you have your airpump still? if not you waterpump could be slipping on the belt.

Didn't you say it had NO smoke on start up or otherwise? Did you do a compression test yet or cooling system pressure test?

stop throwing money/parts at the car and diagnose the problem.



obtain a coolant system pressure checker and find out if theres any internal coolant leak.

Ok the car never smokes.



Not when it is over heating not on start up.



And I think youd know bye the little reservoir tank blowing its top letting out coolant boiling.



The car i have to gas it to get it on if i dont gas it i could be cranking for a year and it would not start.



I have taken off the radiator hose and poured 50/50 mix coolant W/waterand even flused the system. and it still over heats Im getting frustraTED. LOL

do you have a fan shroud? do you have a belly pan?



how is your oil cooler? there is a bypass in the oil cooler that is supposed ot bypass the oil flow when it's cold so the oil heats up quicker, if it fails the oil cooler won't get any oil flow....



check the temperature of the oil cooler when your car is running hot, if it's not hot as hell theres no oil flowing through it and your problem is there.

BUT AS FAR AS YOU NEEDING TO GIVE IT GAS OR NEED TO RUN IN A WHILE TO GET IT TO RUN PROPERLY COULDN'T THAT BE A FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM OF SOME SORT .... TRY RUNING REALLY GOOD GAS THROUGH IT AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANERS AND STUFF BUT AS FAR AS OVERHEATING IT SOUNDS LIKE THESE GUYZ GOT IT DOWN PRETTY GOOD.

my 86 NA did the same thing after my mechanic rebuilt the engine and it ended up being the stock gauge, not the cooling system. if you're going to waste money, spend it on a aftermarket temp gauge and a new pod, at least it will always be useful, come in handy and you will know your exact engine temp, not some point between H and C.
