I have had an '87 TII sitting around various family and friend's properties for 5 years since I went off to college. The first 2 years it was stored outdoors, the last 3 have been in a shop heated to just over freezing during the winter months.

I've been out of the game for so long, I really need help knowing how to get this back home and running "the right way." Am I likely going to have to rebuild the engine - will apex seals, etc have deteriorated over this period of time? What parts, tools, manuals, etc do I need to have on hand before starting?

We will be self-towing the car home and working on it from there, but would like to start it at it's current location and inspect the car. Want to know what we'll be getting into when we get home. I seem to remember something about towing them on a full trailer, not a dolly? Is this correct / what is the reasoning?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

never heard of having issues with using a dolly unless the car is too low. pull out the plugs and see if you can turn the engine by hand, if not there may be a little surface rust. if you can turn it then you need to swap the fuel filter, run some fuel treatment in the first couple tanks (to get rid of any condensation out of the fuel) and of course oil and filter change

oh and see if any critters have decided to make a nest somewhere in your car lol

There's a good chance it's fine. Just try the stuff thatpoorguy said. Good luck!

In case it wasn't sufficiently implied: DRAIN the fuel tank. There's a plug in the bottom. Five year old gas should not be allowed into your engine.
