i am new to the site and i was wondering if anyone was a mechanic living in the middle georgia area? i just bought a n/a 1990 fc3s and i have absolutely no idea how to do some work on it. its got some idle and starting problems and i was hoping there might be someone close to me (warner robins, ga) that i could take it to check it out...and see if it was worth the 2500 i spent on it. thanx.

ps: i know one thing for sure is wrong with it; the smog pump bracket broke so thats no on the engine as of now. (the little hose with the mini-air filter sitting behind the hks air filter is supposed to be attached to wherever the smog pump was supposed to intake to. yea, i have no idea)

I'd check the tps settings and idle adjust screw on the top of the inake (i think thats where it is, mine is s4 though 88 na)

I notice you dont have any fan it seems in the pic ? Do yuo have an electric fan or was the fan removed in this pic ?

If you have no fan you definitely want to put one in there

Well then that would be an electric fan , people take out the stock fan and put in electrical fans its a mod quite a lot of people do but most usually do it because they need more space in the engine bay to do whatever mod they are doing.

Is this a manual transmission by any chance? If so you might want to check the slave cylinder for cracks. One of my FC's had a ripped boot on the slave cylinder so it did not want to start at all. It actually made a terrible screeching sound when I did get it started and then tried to shift. I had thought it was a belt for the longest time until I pulled the motor for the swap I am finishing. As for idle problems check vacuum lines. They are all the little hard hoses attached to your intake manifolds. You could have some cracked?

Unless you really want to work on it yourself, find a mechanic. If you can't find a "rotary" mechanic, you might want to try the dealership.
