So I got some Autometer prolite series gauges for well, nothing. Yet another break I have caught on this project along with many other things that will sure to be posted when the car is finished. Anyway, my questions is where do I install the sensors for the oil temp gauge?? I have limited line to use as it was (I think) modified to be used in a racecar with a short distance from the seat to the motor. Also, where would I install the water temp gauge? Obviously somewhere on the "block" (this I have ample amount of sensor wire to use. Any info would be awesome, thanks again guys

i run the water temp gauge sensor in the back of the water pump housing, there is , depending on what year up to 3 places where you can drill and tap for the sensor. as for the oil temp i run both my presure and temp sensors from the oil filter pedistal with an adapter wich you can buy from mazdatrix or any good race car suplyer.

Does the sensor nessecarily HAVE to be directly inside or can it be within an adaptor that is used to plug in with?

The back of the water pump is the ideal location, I've never seen an adapter for the FC, but I suppose you could fabricate one. If you're going to do all that though, why not just tap the housing?

The hottest places in the engine are the best.

Coolant temp=(like everyone else said) as near to the thermostat as possible.

Oil temp=I think the oil pan works... but i'm not positive. Someone else needs to verify that (or correct me).

Maybr before the oil cooler..?

I was actually going to try and find a place near the oil filter to put the oil temp gauge because the sensor cable is quite limited until I can get my hands on an electric one. Still stuck with the mechanical one im affraid but I got for free so whos complaining right? I also went ahead and bought an electric water gauge cause my mechanical one broke and is leaking the fluid all over the place. Should be in soon enough though along with the other stuff I ordered a little while back. Ill keep everyone updated as soon as I can on progress of the swap, thanks again all for the info, its very useful and even more so helpful.
