Anyone removed it? Is it any more difficult than any other gauge cluster? I am thinking about doing some white indiglo gauges.
|
super easy. you take off the metre hood (5 screws, be careful with the bottome two), and then there are 4 screws holding the cluster into the dash. you have to wiggle it to one side to get the speedo cable off and then 3 connectors, and thats it

OK sounds about like normal, that's cool.
|
yah, i should have just said normal

What about all the switches, do they come off with the hood?
I was thinking about smoothing and painting the surround around the gauges but dont want to get into a whole big ordeal. |
they come off with the metre hood. its about another 5-10 minutes to get all the switches out
mike |
Ah, im more worried about having to gorrila the thing to get them all back on and scratching my work.
I have to do something to the car this year, Im thinking of changing the Borlas and putting the RB ones on, but I hear they are different then they used to be? |
yah the rb fc stuff is now made in the usa, not japan. the quality still seems good though
mike |
I like the exaust tips on the old system, the new one like that?
|
I think its even better then it was, all 304 stainless, polished, very sexy:
|
|
the old ones werent all stainless, I like these new ones
|
They look nice, I wish I had gone chrome, but they sit under the car, you dont really see them!!!

I had to pull the steering wheel to get the guage cluster out enough to work with it, though that wasn't but another 3 screws and a bolt.
edit: I wanna see them when you get them on, I am thinking about getting some white face reverse indiglo gauges myself. |
|
damn you and your fancy schmancy doodads, you probably have power windows as well, don't you? Bastard.
|
Doing the indiglo gauges is very easy, with the one exception of picking the right wire to power them. I used some extra power wire and ran it to what used to light up around the cigarette lighter since I removed the cigarette lighter anyway. I have all indiglo gauges, plus a couple in the pillar... I wired them all into a switch to turn them off in a hurry without losing my headlights, as 5-0 around here isn't particularly fond of them. But yeah, it's wicked simple.
|
As for the talk about the RB mufflers, I just got that, installing it this weekend. Yeah, the mufflers are all stainless, as is the downpipe from the turbo and the presilencer. The only thing that isn't stainless is the Y pipe and the two pipes from the muffler to the Y pipe. I am very anxious to install it.
|
I was thinking about running all the way down to the wire I used for the radio dimmer, used to be part of the radio light. But yea that is a good idea, my neighbor fucked up his dash lights installing the using a little wire tap.
|
I'll get some pics up when I have them in. I have the boost gauge and pod coming from sportcarmotion as well. I will probably slap those in this weekend, but I have a guy doing my exhaust and I need to figure out what the hell is wrong with my car.
Hey is the intermittant wiper timer in the dash? I need to replace it, my intermittent wipers no workie anymore. |
the intermittant wiper thing is in the wiper switch
mike |
Damn, okeedoke well I need me a wiper switch then.
|
yah me too, but a new car is cheaper....
mike |
My switch for my wipers is fucked up too! I guess it is a common problem. Corksport sells the indiglo faces.
|
YIKES they are pretty proud of them. I paid $50.00 for my with shipping.
|
thats a rebuilt one not new though, right?
mike |
No i was talking about the gauges, sorry. I dunno on the wiper switch, I was hoping someone would PM me telling me they were dropping one in the mail https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

There are guys that fix the wiper switches for like $25-$50 or so. |
Yea, problem is I live in Seattle so I gotta have a switch to put in when I pull this one.
|
hey rob do the borla mufflers interchange with the stock ones? the racing beat ones will interchange with the stock mufflers, and/or y pipe

There is a guy named BanzaiToyota around that had a wiper switch for me, as my rear wipers weren't working at all... It was $25 shipped... If you can't find him here, I know he goes to both fc3s.org and rx7club.com.
