After having my oil changed i noticed that the oil has a strong gas smell to it. I brought it to mazda and they said that it was a minute amount but I do believe this is accurate. Could this be my timing, leaking injectors or failing rotors. How would you know injectors are leaking, how do you test the coils for proper function?

It wouldn't be the coils, if it is leaky injectors the car will smoke on start up only, and once it is warmed up it will stop. Timing no if the timing were off it would probably run crappy or not at all. No not failing rotors eihter Maybe bad oil seals that are letting fuel in to the oil, or you have exesivly flooded the engine. At any rate I have the same problem, and can't figure out exacly what is causing mine all I know is that I could probably put my oil in the gas tank and run the car off of it.

My car does smoke at start up and then goes away, i thought that was just condensation.....

I have the same problem and my car smokes only at start up and was told that it could possibly be a leaking side seal.

If the oil is semi old then it is normal if it has a little gas smell to it , i wouldn't really worry about it unless the oil is brand new and/or the scent is very strong

In my case you can smell it when the oil is brand knew. The smell is really strong too. Also I've noticed a slight drop in oil pressure.
