Im getting way less than 10mpg on this thing now. Is it likely that after having removed the emissions and the solenoid rack and all that jazz that i would see such a drop in gas mileage? Im not even driving the thing like a maniac. For a note im 'idling' at about 1800 and my BAC is out of commission as one of the wires broke lose from the plug. Last time i broke down the manifold to put in the turbo i readjusted all of the throttle body stuff to factory specs. I dont know what the deal is

Scott 89t2 08-23-2002 12:48 AM

I get a little over 15mpg now...

vosko 08-23-2002 11:50 AM

i only got about 250 miles per tank of gas in my TII but i liked to be on boost alot and rev out each gear........ 10-15 mpg is normal for a modded TII https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Thats about what I'm getting as well.

UniqueTII 08-24-2002 03:20 PM

I get 17-24.

Turbo II 08-24-2002 03:37 PM

11 a gallon for me

OKIERX-7 08-24-2002 04:20 PM

17-24! wow!

vosko 08-24-2002 09:14 PM

turbo + rotary = really bad MPG LOL

SoniX 08-24-2002 11:32 PM

rotary = bad MPG with or without turbo, you wonder how that much gas could even fit in such a tiny ass engine, oh well, I guess that is why I have a 16 gallon tank.

evilT2 08-25-2002 12:04 AM

rednecks that drank gasoline instead of beer couldnt drink as much as this damn thing is drinking. half a tank and 50 miles on the trip odometer. beat that.

evilT2 08-25-2002 12:04 AM

oh yea, and thats shifting at about 4-5k

vosko 08-25-2002 12:28 AM

try shifting at 3000 rpm you'll have 3/4 tank left. you still have stock exhaust ? if you upgrade the exhaust and keep the boost low you will get better MPG https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

horn4858 08-25-2002 07:08 AM

probably more like 2mpg https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

evilT2 08-25-2002 09:39 AM

ive got a straight 2.5" out the back, no cat, just the rb cat-back. it smells pretty rich at idle too, leaky injectors? need to install that a/f meter, too lazy though

rota-re 08-25-2002 11:12 AM

At least theres one thing thats safe from ricers.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

B) I average 24 on the road and 19 in town with my 88 non turbo...course the motor has only 7k on it the old one went to 13B heaven.... :(

turbo dan 08-25-2002 06:20 PM

I won't even check my mileage.

rotorhad 08-29-2002 03:52 PM

I could only WISH for my T2 to get 15 mpg. I think I'm averaging 7-9! Mine smells like it runs rich, too... I need to figure out how to tune it so it's not so bad!

j9fd3s 08-29-2002 03:59 PM

you guys have problems. the 20b gets 11mpg, i think i was getting 15-18 on the 13bt

Yeah, I know it has problems :( I've seen quite a few posts (around the internet) that deal with this topic. I just haven't had the time to spend a couple hours on the net searching for and writing down the info. I think it's a tuning issue... I need to go over all the sensors and stuff verifying voltages and operation. I'm pretty sure my cats are goners with the car running this rich :( and I'm equally sure that that doesn't help matters any!

hotaggie98 10-03-2002 08:54 AM

I got around 25 to 35 with additive.

step one is to make sure the 02 sensor works, without it it runs 10:1afr, with it it will run a lot leaner under cruising.

step 2 is to drive it where the ecu uses the 02 sensor, between 1500-3400rpm with light load, over 1psi and it stop using the 02.

step 3 is to make sure you dont have any problems, like vacuum leaks etc

over at atkins rotary, when they add a supercharger to a 13B, they regulary get 27mpg from the setups along with the increase in power.

sleeperRX7 10-03-2002 04:21 PM

they get better mpg by adding a supercharger? uhm, that doesnt make sense, correct me if i wrong but how? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

vosko 10-03-2002 04:26 PM

rotorhad maybe you have bad fuel injectors that are staying open. who knows....

its one of two things

1. the engine makes more power so you dont have to push the pedal as hard

2. theres more air going thru it, so its leaner

turbo dan 10-03-2002 07:07 PM

I checked my mileage on the 800 mile trip to SevenStock 5 and back and came up with a whopping 17 mpg. That's not too bad considering I cruised at about 90 for the whole trip and a *lot* more than that in some spots.

sleeperRX7 10-03-2002 11:35 PM

thats too good to be true, supercharger would seem to be one of the best upgrades in a way, but i know it would still get blown away by a mildly upgraded turbo2 (stock turbo2? perhaps, i dont know) or 3rd gen but a good upgrade if it gets 27 mpg! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif
