first weird noise:
Ever since I've had my car, I've always heard this noise. When starting from a stop, just as the power is applied, I hear a *tink*, sounds like if I tapped a lead pipe with another metal object. I've replaced the front diff mount, the transmission mounts, and the motor mounts (most recent), the springs and dampers, and all the suspension bushings that come in the Energy Suspension master kit. I thought it had to be one of the motor mounts, one was broken in half, but it still makes the sound. It also made the sound before and after my 5-lug swap. I have no idea what else it could be, but it's loud enough to alarm me. second weird noise: As I brake harder and harder, I hear a tunk-tunk-tunk, and when I release I heard the clicks/knocks in rapid succession again. If I'm braking real lightly, taking a long distance to brake, I may only hear one click, the harder braking makes more clicks. Do the calipers make noise as the brakes are tightened down? Or are aftermarket springs or dampers supposed to make a sound as they're compressed? (if so, I don't hear the sound while cornering, only braking) |
First off, anything laying around in the hatch?
2nd... springs are not supposed to make noises... sometimes if you get the wrong size, you'll get a clicking noise during cornering or braking, but if you bought the right springs for your car, you should be fine. Have you checked your master brake cylinder? Your U-joints on the driveshaft may also be worn... |
Master cylinder has been replaced. hmmm, any way to check the driveshaft? Will I be able to tell it's worn?

if you pull it out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png it should pivot freely in every direction, but with no slop
|
if that shaft itself moves but the point where it meets the diff doesn't then its worn out.
youd be able to tell, its obvious if you have good light while looking at it. kevin. |
