Does the fuel pump have a seperate fuse, or is it with something else. My problem is I swaped my motor out and the pump wont come on, but the relay is clicking? Any ideas.

j9fd3s 09-27-2005 09:02 PM

when the engine is cranking does the fuel pump get power? is the afm plugged in?

fc3s4utnv 09-27-2005 09:43 PM

No it doesnt, yes it is plugged in. Thats why I am lost. I wont have a chance to check anything else untill sat.

I have the same problem with my car. i swapped the engine for another s5 engine and now my fuel pump wont receive power. i even went to the extent of buying a new pump and running new wires for the pump and i still get nothing. anyone out there can help us with our problem???

fc3s4utnv 09-28-2005 09:56 PM

My problem, is not the same as yours. I stayed s4.

jefraney 09-28-2005 11:33 PM

The fuel pump should have its own fuse. I know most cars have them so I wouldnt see why the FCs wouldnt.

Tech_Greek 09-29-2005 12:53 AM

I believe the EGI Fuse in the Engine Bay (for S5's anyways) control the fuel pump.

While I was installing the SAFCII in my car, I tried to start the car without a proper ground on the unit and blew the EGI fuse so it would sit there and turn over until I replaced the fuse.

Its good I figured out the fuel pump, I had to take the line off and bleed the air out.

But now, It wont start I cant figure out if its out of time or what Ill have to mess with it tomorrow.

One320B 09-29-2005 05:42 PM

That air in the lines always get you...I did the same thing on the tractor this weekend..lol, different story, but same fix, lol.

Are you getting an firing? Generally a rotary will run/start even if the timing is off... check the spark plugs..make sure they havent fouled out..we've put new engines in cars and they wouldnt start worth crap until swapped the plugs out...

check spark

check fuel

fc3s4utnv 09-30-2005 05:34 PM

Yes its getting fire, that was the first thing I checked, Ill have to check the plugs in the morning, but the were new?

ive seen brand new plugs foul out ridiculously quick in rotaries.

Check the voltage going to the fuel pump, perhaps take time out to do the fuel pump rewire..if its not your problem it's still nice thing to do.

Obviously check you're getting gas, i can only assume you are because you said you "figured out the fuel pump". But do you have a fuel pressure gauge? this relates to what i wrote before, if youre not getting good voltage to the pump the pressure will be very low.

Did you reuse your injectors/rails etc from your old motor? I know you grenaded it by running it for a long time at high rpms maybe thats caused them to stick open or something? thats just a random guess tho https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

fc3s4utnv 09-30-2005 06:56 PM

Yeah I reused the rails and injectors, I have an extra set of injectors, Ill try them.

they seem to need to be "broken in" its good to run the car for an hour or so. or i should say we've noticed this too. its really bad with new cars, cause they get started, put on a truck, get started again, get put on a boat etc etc

fc3s4utnv 09-30-2005 09:48 PM

So should I put the old plugs back in?

1988RedT2 10-01-2005 07:50 AM

Check your plugs for obvious fouling. If you suspect them, plan on putting in a new set.

fc3s4utnv 10-01-2005 12:18 PM

Okay, the plugs are fine they are notfouled, bc I am still not getting anyfuel?

My question is, since I removed the emmisons rack is their something in their that needs to be grounded out? Or am I justmissing the obvious here. The car will start if you put some starting fluid or gas down the TB, I used a noid light on the top injectors, but from what I understand they will not work at all below 4k? Let me know If I am missing something, thanks.

did you run a vacuum line to the FPR?

fc3s4utnv 10-01-2005 05:06 PM

'doh, nevermind, I got it figured out. Damn fuel lines were crossed. Started right up.

1988RedT2 10-02-2005 07:08 AM

Yay! I love happy endings!

lol i was gonna say if your fpr was hooked up the only other fuel related lines are the return and feed lines.
