my car is a 88 gxl 5 speed, under the hood beside the intake this one adjustment screw was filled with j/b weld i cleaned it all off and stuff, i believe this is where you adjust the fuel mixture, how do i know if mine is adjusted correctly? im curious too as what the consequences may be if i screw around with it? too rich and get flames out my exhaust or to lean and blow my motor?lol thanks for the help, piece

As per the manual, it says the only reason you should have to mess with the air fuel mixture screw is if the engine has been replaced. Otherwise it should not need to be adjusted. Before you mess with it, tell us why you want to in the first place. Whats up with your car that makes you think the air/fuel ratio is messed?

You are asking for trouble if you mess with that screw. I promise.

You've got an NA S4, they are just NOT fast. I know I had an S5 NA, they are just NOT fast.

quicker than most cars, yes, but compared to a t2, no there not fast, but ya gotta remember they are quicker than a lot of other cars. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

Well I agree with Okie that messing with the air/ fuel screw is a bad idea. I don't know how messing with it would give you any more power anyways, especially if your car is running good right now. I would throw my money towards a racing beat header and a complete new exhaust. Even though you have the cats gutted, the exhaust would give you some more power.

True, they are quick, but NOT fast. Back when my car was an NA, I used to look at it and think "it looks fast, why isn't it fast?"

I did all kinds of crazy things to the car to get it to go faster, which in the end, blew the engine. Something to think about.

Once you own and drive a turbo a few times, it puts more in perspective what FAST is. When I first got my 86 (NA) 5 years ago, I never had anything close to a sports car and of course I thought it was a rocket. Then I drove a T2 and later on had a DSM that ran 13.5's. Now that I have another S4 NA, I realize its not fast at all and thats why I'm putting more work into the suspension to realize what else even the base 7's are good at....
