I think you answered your own question.

Something is leaking. Go in there and find it.

posting a picture on the internet of an engine bay isnt going to fix your leak!

It's probably the fuel hose of death.

If so, you'll have to pull the upper intake to replace it. Unless someone around here has figured out a way of doing it that I don't know of there's no way of getting at it. Dumb design.

Replace the gaskets while you're there. May as well inspect the lines that control the oil injection while you're at it.

And replace the pulsation dampener if it's an S4.

Kill as many birds with one stone as you can. It's not terribly hard to remove the upper intake but why make extra work later?

ok, i looked around the engine, i cranked it and figured out where the gas is coming out, maybe you guys can help me and tell me what the problem is.

it is squirting out of the circled area, under the metal, i am a noob and have no idea what the problem could be. thanks in advanced

that looks like the fuel pressure regulator to me... just look for any obvious damage to the hoses or rail in that area.

invest in a fire extinguisher before you work on it too much more though.... leaking fuel near the alternator can get ugly quick.

What they said, and if you do replace fuel lines be sure to use 5/16 inch fuel hose and don't be a dork like me and take the Advance guys word that it is 3/8. I was fixing a fuel leak and had tons more after replacing all my lines with 3/8. No matter how much I tightened clamps it would still leak. Found an old piece of line and noticed the difference, called Kevin Landers and he verified the size as 5/16 and have had no more fuel smells. Mine is a Turbo II but I would thing the N/A is the same size. Good luck with it.

ok, i fixed the leak, it turned out to be the fuel rail. replaced it and the fuel stoped leaking but it still wouldnt start. I used the flooding technique of removing both fuses, turning for 20 sec and then putting the fuse back it and it would almost turn over but stillwont. i recorded the sound, let me know if you guys know what it may be.

A bond fire waiting to happen https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif your buddy said you were not using the gas..............next time use it.

mesallem 04-09-2005 12:28 AM

hey was saying, you wernt pressing the gas while starting, as per the unflooding instructions i found on this forum, can anyone help me?

FCmaniac 04-09-2005 07:09 AM

Was it just leaking from the hose connection at the rail? Did you check the pulsation damper on the primary rail like rotary dragon said? They are prone to fail too.

As long as you have the fuses out, it shouldn't matter whether your foot is on the pedal or not. Some guys floor the pedal which cuts fuel too instead of the fuse thing.
