Got my new clutch yesterday. An ACT 6 puck. Its so awesome looking. Just finished taking the trans out, got the clutch off, cleaned the flywheel. Took the old throwout bearing off, cleaned the trans shaft, greased it up. Put the new bearing on. Took the clutch on the align tool, put it on the flywheel. Hmmmm...... Its looks a little small. Well, maybe its suppose to be. Put the pressure plate on. G-damn it!!! ****!! ****!! WRONG ******* CLUTCH!!!!!

So I took a breather and drank. Called up horsepowerfreaks and bitched them out. "Oh, I'm sorry. Let me call my warehouse and see what the problem is.............Okay, it seems that our website database has the wrong details and the part number for that clutch is actually for a non-turbo. I will send the correct one next day, which will probally be Monday"

**** YOU!!!!

There, now I feel better.

"It's nice being on a forum where everyone acctually "works" on their own cars" **** i hate people who spend thousands more than they should just to get little **** done like getting a clutch put in, or **** even installing a drive shaft (buddy of mine spend 900$ to get his drive shaft installed... i told him we could done the work our selves and saved him a bunch of $$$... good luck dude

It's alright,

You just weren't meant to drive it this weekend.

Lots of extra Drunk time! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...

roadkill669 09-25-2003 02:23 PM

What is horrible though, they made me pay for the other one, then thy will pay me back when they recieve this one. UPS is emailing me a shipping thingy, what ever it is to send the clutch back. But man, this really pisses me off. I always thought this company to be a pretty good one.

Now, I gotta go put my 92K mile clutch back in and burn it even more. Then next week, take the car back apart and put in the new clutch. DAMN IT!! At least I get to work on a car, its been a while https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png .

Turbo II 09-25-2003 02:33 PM

That kinda sucks.

HIMNI RACING 09-25-2003 02:43 PM

I know it's hard. You did all that work to find out they sent the wrong part . They messed up, and they are fixing it. Things happen.

Could be worse, they could send you the wrong part and then charge almost 1/2 your money to to fix it...*cough*----> sportcarmotion https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

roadkill669 09-25-2003 03:04 PM

It was from Horse Power Freaks.

Owning ThePartsTrader for 5 years put me in a position to deal with good and bad performance shops so I have a strong opinion on situations like this.

You having to pay for a second one until the first one is returned is completely unacceptable. This is a sign of a fly-by-night company. And for something this small/light they also should of sent you the correct replacement clutch overnight shipping at no extra cost.

When asked to pay for the second clutch I would of asked for an immeiate full refund and then sent them the wrong clutch with a bill for 4 hours of labor (not really expecting them to pay.. but just to make a point).

I had a simular situation happen to me with brake rotors. The mistake was caught the day after the rotors shipped. The company sent the right brake rotors priority overnight and I receive the correct rotors the same day I got the wrong ones. I also received an appology letter for having to deal with returning the wrong ones as well as a box of chocolates. They spent much more on overnight shipping than what their profit margin was on the rotors. That was way more than necessary but shows the difference between good and bad service.

I started the site in the early part of 1997 and sold it in May of 2002. I saw the good, bad and ugly of the automotive parts industry. I even had one guy (a name that some on here would recognise) threaten to fly to Birmingham (he was in Washington State) to "kick [my] ass" for telling people the TRUTH about a motor he shipped me. I suppose that kind of service explains why he is no longer in business.

Rotaryman88 09-25-2003 04:57 PM

C'mon jon...make it fit, lol.

Guess no race tonight?? Fuckers...I will wait a while before ordering something from them.. oh yea, the thing UPS is sending you is probably an ARS label(prepaid shipping label for UPS). You should call them back and request a Call Tag for UPS...thats where the company has to pay to send UPS back to ur house and pick up the clutch..that way they lose a lil extra and you'll feel a lil better,lol..

Where did you get the $$$ for the second clutch so quickly?? Is my paypal account empty now?? lol.....

bruce 09-25-2003 05:44 PM

while you have the clutch out make sure to have the flywheel turned, If its not smooth you'll have to do this job over. I've have previous experience with this problem, IT REALLY SUCKS, and you'll need a new clutch because the one you have will have tried to start wearing into the non-turned flywheel.

Rotaryman88 09-25-2003 06:03 PM

The flywheel is smooth enough. If a street/strip clutch was going on the car, and it was intended for a lot of driving and long life I'd understand getting it turned..that puck clutch will wear down quick regardless of flywheel condition...it may however give an even harsher engagement....but its a puck clutch,lol..who cares.

MazdaEnthused 09-25-2003 06:15 PM

i would so do my own clutch too but i dont know how is it easy... ? but i am the person who loves to do my own work on my car...

88IntegraLS 09-25-2003 10:08 PM

**** man, chill. That is bad but it could be a lot worse. I'd hate to see the coronary you might have if that thing blew a seal or had an engine fire due to PD failure.

roadkill669 09-25-2003 10:24 PM

What was even worse is that when I put it all bach together and give it a test start while it was still in the air, it wouldn't start. So, does it have fuel. Gauge says 38 psi. Does it have spark, take plug out, nice and moist with fuel and lights right up. Does it have compression, put tester up, WTF!!!!! 60 psi!!!!! How the hell is that possible?!?!?!? So, I sat and just cranked on it more, then for no reason, it fired up, kinda rough at first, then smoothed right out. I then cut it off, then started it again, right up. I then checked the compression, it read about 135 psi. ??????

Travis R 09-26-2003 07:57 AM

Loose spark plug?

Good luck with the clutch.

roadkill669 09-26-2003 09:08 AM

Well, heres what has happened so far. They made me pay $280 for a new clutch, but they are shipping it next day (which is really 2 days). Since they still have $300 for the first clutch, I emailed them asking if instead of giving me a refund for the wrong clutch, if they can exchange it for a flywheel https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

TravisR - I have no idea what it could have been. The sparkplug that I removed was in there pretty tight. I only checked that one. It was the leading on the back rotor.
