For those of you wonder about the bushings kit...

1Revvin7 04-01-2004 03:02 PM

I have not used it yet.

1Revvin7 04-01-2004 03:03 PM

But it appears to be all the right size parts to push out or install the bushings. No need for sockets and such... You still need to burn/cut some of the bushings to remove them. Install is a sinch.

banzaitoyota 04-01-2004 03:04 PM

I have that kit also https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

gawd, I'm jealous! did you paint those, or just blast them with something?

I think I'm going to pay a shop to do my bushings, and just bring them my control arms. I had them do my rear control arms this morning, I gave up on them. (a tad over $39 for them to swap the bushings)

I cleaned them up with mineral spirits and use a die grinder with a wire brush attachment. Then I just used spray paint...

ColinRX7 04-01-2004 06:37 PM

Those are sexy man!

FCmaniac 04-01-2004 08:44 PM

damn those look good! I didn't do the control arms yet and that kit looks like a must have... where did you get that at? I've used my jack and a vise and some other fucked up methods in the past to get bushings in.

The big ones on the rear control arms, where the alignment adjustment is. I might be able to get some pics later. What did you want pics of? I have the new bushings in the control arm (still off the car), and the old bushings and shells.

i remember using a pickaxe and a hose clamp to get the subframe bushings in

FCmaniac 04-02-2004 08:17 PM

I used a floor jack, the washing machine, and the staircase to press in the motor mount bushings on the crossmember of my other car

pengaru 04-02-2004 08:36 PM

any industrial tool source will carry various different types of press kits.

mscdirect

grainger

northern tool

airgas

to name a few. They don't cost that much money, the made in taiwan or china ones are generally cheaper and crappier quality, in this case it makes sense to buy american, in my experiences anyways.

mcguyver style eh?

FCmaniac 05-26-2004 10:04 AM

Revvin, I'm putting in the ES bushings on the control arms now. I used the torch and burnt most of the rubber out. There is a second metal sleeve about 1/8 inch in on the front pivot point of the control arms (not the huge bushing/pivot one). Do I need to take this sleeve out or is it supposed to stay in? I can't get it out so I wasn't sure if its actually connected and part of the control arm... not sure if I need to cut it out or what. Thanks

I'm pretty sure you have to remove that. If you took a picture I could tell you for sure.

FCmaniac 05-26-2004 06:00 PM

Well I finally got those bitches out and got the arms back in the car... what a hassle! Even with the torch it was a bitch. Now I'm taking out the Eibach pro kits and putting in the Ground Control coilovers. I just found out I need to grind my AGX's to fit the GC sleeves all the way down. Thanks GC!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

this is where the k2 kit is better, pm me we have some spacer chingaso's for that

FCmaniac 05-27-2004 08:08 AM

Thanks Mike but I just want to get this done and back together now.

DAharon 05-27-2004 12:06 PM

I'm not sure what kind of warantee you have with those AGX's, but take car to grind them down nice and ROUND. Keep it clean and factory looking. I have Tokicos and GC's on my Ford Probe and when one of the shocks started leaking oil I took it in for the lifetime replacement. Once the guy behind the counter got on the phone with 'whomever' about replacing my strut under waranty, the first thing he was told to do was look at the top of the shock where I had ground away.

"Clean ... very clean," he said. Technically, it voids the waranty.

FCmaniac 05-27-2004 05:29 PM

It should be fine. It was a very small amount that need to be ground, maybe 1/32 of an inch or so. They fit great and I can't wait to get it on a course now.
