Patient: 91 Vert

Anybody want to share any tips or shortcuts with me on removing the front cover on my Vert? I do not plan on removing the oil pan.

Thanks,

Andy

PS I already got the e-shaft bolt off.

i don't think the oil pressure regulator on the bottom of the front cover will clear without dropping the front of the pan. E-shaft is too long to rotate it to make the PR clear also.

I noticed in the FSM it says to remove the oil pressure control valve. If it screwed into the front cover and removable from the outside without dropping the oil pan?

I was told that the front cover could be removed with dropping the oil pan and was wondering where the oil pressure control valve is and looks like.

Also, does the crank angle sensor have to removed from the front cover too?

Its a lot easier if you take out the crank angle sensor and drop the oil pan. I don't think you can take it off without removing the cas... the teeth on the bottom may get stuck on the drive gear. The front reg should clear the cover when pulling straight off if I remember right.

Mazdaspeed7 did it while it was still in the car.

Wheres he at?

I'm on my way and got 1.5 hours in this job. I can't for life of me figure out what I need to remove on the whole A/C and Power Sterring side of the house. Would removing the 4 bolts holding in the a/c be enough?
