I've got oil leaking down the back of my engine, I suspect it's the rear main. Before I take everything off I want the right size socket for the flywheel/ring gear nut to the e-shaft. The factory service manual on iluvmyrx7.com doesn't specify the size. I've read in haynes that it's 54mm or 2 1/8". I have yet to find anywhere that sells these sizes. Are these sizes accurate, I don't really trust haynes.

Yup both sizes work, Sears sells them, and usually have them in stock.
Yup, that is correct. Go to Sears, and you can usually find the 2 1/8" 3/4 drive socket. That is where I got all of mine. |
Yep, 54mm
Have fun knocking it loose too, lol.. It's not much fun Neither is retorquing it to spec..... |

I used a torque wrench from a truck shop that will do 500+ ft lbs and is a 4 foot long wrench
|
I had no torque wrench so I put it on hand tight and used solder, rosin core though so it will be better than some silly torque wrench.

I got my 2-1/8 socket from sears.com for around $25. Also had to get a 3/4 to 1/2" adapter for my impact wrench. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it came off. Results may vary.
|
yeah dude. its all about sears, i think i paid $18 for mine
|
dang i think we paid near 30 bucks for the socket, we broke an adapter, and a 1/2 breaker bar doing the job untill we just rolled it down the street to take air tools to it.
