I am going to run the 15.25", 1300 series flex fan. I should have it installed tomorrow barring any major complications, and I will also be running the fan shroud as well, making a small mod to it in order to remove it at car shows and meets. I am hoping that the removal of the gigantic e-fan will improve the electrical aspect of the car, and still not overcool the engine and such, we shall see...

I put the fan on this evening and gave it a test run. It makes a different sound than anything I am used to, but I bounced it off the rev limiter and everything is o.k. I still have some fine tuning to do to the parts; painting, adjusting, installing the shroud, etc.



I would have took it out for a longer drive, but my tail lights are on thier way to NY so just a quicky for now.

My final opinion on the flex-fan:



New higher rpm rated fan works great, cools the car properly as if in stock config, even lacking the shroud



However the noise it makes through the rpm's is annoying, the harmonic between the fan and the exhaust tone is terrible, and of course, when you pop the hood at a quick glance it looks like a small block chevy.



I put the car back to the stock config; shroud, clutch fan and the works.



Same great cooling without all the extra noise!

Why don't you use a smaller electric fan? One that just runs what you need, not all the electrical draw and overkill CFMs you used to have?



I don't know if you had it running full time with the key on, but you can configure it to come on at certain temp..



I went back to the stock fan myself too but now I'm reconsidering again going back to electric. It just makes the car easier to work on and makes it look less cluttered.

At some point, probably on the next project, I will opt again for the e-fan, but the budget will allow the time and money for a proper shroud and better belly pan.



I am from the school of overkill, sometimes I can't help myself when it comes to certain things, and won't take any advice, stubborn, I guess. Many people told me it would be best to leave it stock, I just didn't listen.



This project is done done by next weekend at the latest, it's getting fully detailed, and loaded on the truck headed to Sevenstock, afterwhich, hopefully I will leave well enough alone and just enjoy it.
