Ok, I'm trying to think about the best way to fix my car. The green circle is what needs to be pulled out, I think I'm going to get Maaco to do it, they said $150 to straighten. I can replace the blue circle support thing from a parts car, I think just 4 bolts hold it on. The red arrow points to a bent support piece, I'm going to try and straighten it. Any tips on the best way to do that? I'm pretty sure hitting it with a hammer isn't going to work. Maybe the Maaco guys can straighten that?
Now the part I really want to know. The red cicles, those parts seem to only hold the bumper and fender in place. They are welded in place, and I can see where they have been bent and rusted from something the previous owner hit (the same goes for the passenger side, but not as severe). I want to remove those (cut them?), and replace them with something else. Should I try to find the same pieces off of a donor car, and drill holes and bolt them on? Rivet them on? Would it be worth my time and money to have someone weld them on? Could I use cut sheet metal rather than the same pieces from a donor car? Your help is appreciated, I'd like to get this thing looking mediocre again. |
Have someone weld it on. Use the donor pieces

Drill out the spot welds, and a steady hand w/ a plasma cutter should get the rest out easy and not damage the surrounding sheet metal too much.

Hmmm, I might not be able to borrow a plasma cutter and drag it into a junk yard, but I'll think of something. Thanks for your help!

I suppose you could use an oxy/acytelene torch or a sawzall but those are kind of crude tools to use if they aren't ones you use everyday.

I'm talking about removing the donor pieces. I could always cut way around what I need. For removing the bent stuff on the car, I'll have the shop do it properly.

sounds good to me!
