There is a leak inbetween the 6AN to 6An flare adapter and the supplied flare ? to 6an adapter :( I guess thread locker won't work... This setup is bs, using 2 adapters in conjuction........ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR
Teflon tape?
well you use stuff on the NPT, I meant you don't use anything on the AN flared junctions.
this 6an flare adapter is leaking at the fpr too!
Well the other end on the k2 rail is perfect, they gave me this other adapter on the other side....
I know I said this in AIM but just so any of the readers know...
the AN stuff will leak like a mother until you have it all tight enough. After I stopped all my leaks I cranked the pressure using the adjustable FPR and found 3 more... you probably want to do the same, because when you get into boost, your fuel pressure is going to have to rise accordingly, and leaks might sprout where they werent previously. |
One side appears to have a AN O-ring to NPT adapter installed, why didnt it come with a AN O-ring to AN Flare adapter like the other end?
Well the fpr an flare does not have an O-ring, so thats why that is leaking, and more than likely the other 2 don't either..
I just ordered a 8an to 6an flare adapter, that is what is on the opposite end of the k2 rail. So anyone who plans on ordering, make sure you specify the fittings you want! When i orderd through phins I assumed it was setup this way... whoopsy
On the K2rd I just used a 6 to 8 union with an o-ring inside on both side. Make them tight and should be ok. I pressure tested mine too like over 100psi, no leaks when the FPR was stuck, lol. The pressure was so high, my fuel filter started to leak at the bottom end.
You gotta use heavy duty Teflon tape on NPT threads. C |
Can I add O-rings to any an adapters? I have a big kit..... Cuz i doubt the ones I just ordered have o-rings...
Dammit just blew another $70 for fittings with O-rings... I wish i would have never went this path...

Yes, you can add O rings to fittings that are AN O ring but didnt come with the O rings but require them, or need them replaced. Earls and Aeromotive doesnt even provide O rings with the AN O ring fittings they sell, at least in my experience. You can buy baggies of AN O rings from Earls, I bought a bag to do my car. |
That looks like a Earls crush washer, and the fitting looks like a GM O-ring fuel line to AN flare adapter (or power steering to AN adapter) NOT what you need, which is a AN O-ring to AN Flare adapter (-6 to -6) AKA 'Port Adapter'.... just search for aeromotive on summit or jegs, look at their product list and you will find fuel fittings, including the port adapters and the O rings needed for them.
Useful advice: find a local speed shop that carries AN hardware. It's nice when you get to know the employees and they just let you go out back and rummage through the bins to find what you need, with parts in hand for test fit. I've had places even on first visit where the owner takes me back and spends over an hour with me finding the right fittings for the exotic piece of equipment I brought in with me. Supporting small local businesses is cool too. 1revvin7: I know I already helped you with this on AIM, but it's useful to have it archived here for others to utilize, perhaps a fitting writeup would be useful explaining AN O-ring vs AN Flare vs NPT vs crush washer junctions. edit: 1revvin7 seems to have removed the post where he has the culprit fitting photographed, ah well. |

if you go under summit racing it is ear-9919dfh I only used one of those for the entrace of fuel to the primary rail. The part you are holding is the power steering adapter which will restrict flow ot the rail. I just did my convertion and no problems. C |
its fine now, and IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!
Here is the difference, the black ones are the O-ring an flare vs the flare union
the o-ring flare is not tapered vs the tapered ends on both sides of the normal ones..
much better! Just got my other 90degree too...

Back from the grave!
Did anyone ever do a write up on fittings/adapters needed to convert stock fuel system to aftermarket fpr and parallel fuel rails? I just ordered my fpr (dual -6an inlets and one -6an return) and don't want to experience the problems/costs that everyone else has gone through. I want to replace everything from the fuel filter to the fuel rails, and I am going to stick with the stock rails (S4) with metric adapters for the an lines/fittings. Any help is greatly appreciated. If there is already a thread on this and I missed it in my search, please point me in that direction. Thanks again! |
Beautiful work. All that AN stuff is really expensive.

i've never had a problem with Goodridge fittings https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
