first time rx7 buyer looking for feedback
Hello,
I am new to these forums. I am contemplating buying a used 1990 RX-7 FC. However, I really don't know much about RX-7s at all. I've been spending a bunch of time looking up tuning guides and new buyer guides specifically about RX-7s, but I am still quite a newbie and have very limited knowledge of this particular car. I thought it would be a good idea to visit some RX-7 forums on the internet and ask for some input on this particular car that I'm looking at. I know that some of you guys are real hardcore RX-7 enthusiasts who know a whole lot more about these cars than I do, and I think your feedback would be very helpful. Just to clarify, I am not really asking you guys if you think I should buy this car or not... I understand that only I can make that decision for myself. What I'm really asking here is what your thoughts are on this ride. Based on the information the seller has provided, if it were you in my shoes, would you buy it? Do you think the price is fair, or do you think it's a ripoff? Do you think the car will last a while, or will it fall apart as soon as I pull it into my driveway? Will it be a pain to maintain, or will I be able to keep it running smoothly by following standard RX-7 maintenance procedures (i.e. oil changes every 3k miles, etc.) Here is the information on the car I'm looking at (pasted from the CL listing): Mods: Large Greddy frontmount intercooler BNR Stage 2 turbo rebuilt < 3000 miles ago Koyo N-Flow radiator w/ shrouded electric fan Silicon hoses Custom Air intake and TID HKS blow-off valve HkS air intake Greddy pop-off valve Denso 720 cc Primary Injectors RC 1200 cc Secondary injectors Haltech platinum sport 1000 LS1 coils with direct fire ignition Iridium Plugs Dual stinger egt probes 4 port boost control valve Ss oil cooler lines Ss fuel lines AN Aeromotive stealth 340 fuel pump Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator Innovative wideband + digital gauge saw Replaced water temp sensor, TPS, and other misc sensors New water pump All new engine gaskets New oilpan gasket replaced omp lines w/ high strength lines battery relocated (fc3 method w/ welding cable) AC removal New exhaust gaskets & hangers 2.5 " downpipe & midpipe To 3" apexi single exhaust. Car is a 1990 Turbo II. Seller claims he has invested over $14,000 into the car, and that it was stock for 20 years prior to being modified. Seller claims the title is clean, car is in very good condition and that he is only selling it because he needs money. Seller is asking $5400. Car was apparently just smogged. I would post the link to the Craigslist listing for the car here, but based on my experience at some of the other forums I've tried posting about this on, that generally isn't acceptable. Therefore, I will only provide the listing in PMs, unless I am told that I can post it here. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and respond to my post! I greatly appreciate your feedback. |
