Well, I started to run some of the pipes, just to get an idea of where the holes are gonna need to be cut... and I have come across a few problems.

1. My air filter/cleaner system is going to need to be moved down some, no biggy there.

2. My battery will have to be relocated. Again, not a big issue since I was gonna do that anyways.

3. The final pipe hits my master cylinder for the brakes. This is a problem. I am still able to get the pipes in, but it rubs pretty bad on the master cylinder. I may try and bend the cylinder over some and get some padding to put around it...we'll have to see...

here are some pics though....

I'll get that problem fixed though..here is another shot. I cant wait to get it all in. I think that it is going to make changing my spark plugs a lil more difficult, but I do like the fact that it opens the top of my engine bay up, and the removal of my TB/UIM, etc will be a lot easier now!

One more shot...this is as it sits til i get my cutting tool...

i have thus far over 20pics of the install for the writeup so I hope I help the rest of you out there someday,lol...

ioTus 08-01-2003 06:36 PM

maybe shorten the neck of the throttle body connector piece?

BTW, i have a polished stock elbow for sale now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

also, if any of u guys need something related to the stock TMIC setup, let me know..i've got the rubber hoses and ****, and stock BOV...dont think any of u want the stock IC,lol...

heres a pic of the polished elbow...

ponykiller 08-01-2003 06:37 PM

Looks good. Nice Greddy adapter. Makes me wish I had one!

Have you thought of trimming the pipe so that you can slide it farther into the coupler and away from the MC? Then use the rest of the couplers to allow the shift and make up for the slight movement.

ioTus 08-01-2003 06:37 PM

i also have the same for sale, or for give.... but not polished. i suppose i cuold shine it up if needed.

Rotaryman88 08-01-2003 06:39 PM

Yea..i was thinking about that. I'm going to cut the other holes cut and run the other pipes first...I dont want to cut the pipes until I'm sure everything else wont be affected. If anything else, I can have about .25" machined off the back of the new GReddy elbow...that'll give me some space..i'll find a way..no biggie...

ioTus 08-01-2003 06:41 PM

yeah looks like you could trim some of the connecting bit on the pipe, too. plenty of straight bit there to connect to.

Rotaryman88 08-01-2003 06:46 PM

Yea..i dont feel its a real problem...but i was looking for the first FMIC install w/out a hitch ever..lol..

but hey, at least i took my PS off..I learned from the last FCs i installed FMICs on that the PS is a bitch to work around...thats actually one of the reasons i took it off. first reason was more HP and less stress on motor, then the FMIC reason, then cheaper since i dont have to buy that belt anymore https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Good work! PS is a good thing to get rid of.

j9fd3s 08-01-2003 07:58 PM

you have to cut that pipe a little the jdm cars dont have the brakes there

mike

and please do not "bend the master cylinder"

damnit, I wanted to see the results of this https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rob x-7 08-01-2003 09:22 PM

I bet he would have used the tractor to bend the master

RX7Aggie 08-01-2003 09:25 PM

you still have mucho room next to the radiator to do mine and frestyle's custom CAI!

i totally recommend it. i definitely feel on cool night over this summer, i can't wait till 50 deg temps in the fall, zoom zoom

Racer X 08-02-2003 12:21 AM

Damn that greddy elbow is pimp.Too bad I want paint and a T04 turbo this year still. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

MazdaEnthused 08-02-2003 01:32 AM

wait the t2 has a BOV stock?

djgiantrobot 08-02-2003 02:53 AM

lordy, i can't think or any turbo cars that don't, with the exception of the early turbo dodges

MazdaEnthused 08-02-2003 08:30 AM

so should i be able to hear that or am i in trouble if i can't and where is it

djgiantrobot 08-02-2003 11:24 AM

Break out your FSM, its call a recirculation valve on their i think. No you probably won't be able to hear it. Trace the routing from the turbo compressor outlet to the throttle body and you'll find it, and learn more than if i just told you where it is.

Rotaryman88 08-02-2003 02:06 PM

I wasn't really going to bend the MC guys, sheezzz..what do u take me for? lol.

I'll probably just end up cutting the pipe. Next I'm getting a new radiator and after that I'll see where my intake will be...on the stock turbo I probably will be doing a CAI custom setup of some sort...but when the GT35/40 gets on..filter goes smack on the inlet!...for drag..no filter at all https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rob x-7 08-02-2003 04:57 PM

you were thinking of bending it, and there was some talk of padding

dont lie, lol

j9fd3s 08-02-2003 04:58 PM

you must cut pipe grasshopper

Apex13B 08-02-2003 06:27 PM

cutting pipe is easier and cheaper then having a throttle body collector thingy machined

88IntegraLS 08-03-2003 12:21 PM

Wow, adding FMIC creates a lot more air volume between the AFM and ports . . .

yes, the stock is very small though

mike

88IntegraLS 08-03-2003 11:23 PM

So other than a mild increase in boost lag, is there any other drawback (delay in afm readings when opening throttle for example)? I am curious as I may try fabbing in an eaton roots with an intercooler between my throttle body and manifold, for this car:
