Well, last week there was a discussion about pop up hoods.. (rear of hood being open) i'm sure we all remember. well i went to Home Depot today and purchased two 4"x2" aluminum plates, mesured it all out drilled the holes and was done in less than 30 min.

and the best part about it. they cost me $2.70

I drove the car afterwards to get it warmed up. after about 10 min of driving i took it down a LONG back road in my area... went up to 110 without signs of flutter or vibration coming from the hood... Trust me, i made sure i bolted that sucker down properly...

After i came home i noticed a large amount of air being pushed out from my E-fan. man alot of air comes out from there now.

On a side note i FOUND dry ice.. finally. i finished removing the tar in my chassis area.... after i removed it all i painted the interior chassis jet gloss black. very nice. i need to get some film in my camera so i can post some pics for you guys.

The hood thing... it's ok, i like the fact that ALOT of air is flowing thru there. it's only propped up about 1 inch or so at the trailing end.. so it's HARDly noticeable. i dunno, i'm sure i'll get tired of it and remove the mounts.. but it's just something to try for a while.. just to say "hey i tried that"

anyway, any critisicm/words of wisdom would be great.. thanks

How much does dry ice cost and how much do you need to remove the tar? I'm considering doing it myself. How much did everything way that you took out? ...like the carpet and an estimate of the tar and ****.

its like 30-40lbs theres really not a huge reasong to take it out unless you're going for hardcore weight reduction

I weighed the tar after I chiseled it out, and it came to about 22-23 lbs.

I don't know how much the carpet weighs.

Is the metal underneath look nice or are there holes and stuff underneath it b/c I'd do it for looks too.

there are some regular chassis holes. i guess that's just how they come from the factory. I am gunna plug the couple of holes and put some nice Rx-7 floor mats down with liquid nails.

Should look real nice.

The thing you may not like is that it was a different color under the tar. I guess Mazda painted them after the tar was down.
