my engine bay b4 the intake

ROTARYROCKET7 02-16-2003 04:30 PM

My K&N intake with a silver breather filter. Looks nice and sounds nice im Happy lol. I had to put it verticaly cause it was touching the hose going to the radiator. now it says k&N upside down. lol

ROTARYROCKET7 02-16-2003 04:33 PM

up close. Now i gota cover the extra hole for the airpump thats on the bracket. I had two choices. Either connect the airpump hose to the bracket or put a breather filter on the end. I chose the breather filter and am gonna cover up the hole so that more air stays inside. anywhich way im happy. Next is my CORKSPORT headlight duct

ROTARYROCKET7 02-16-2003 04:38 PM

is this the right filter or what man. Someone told me my **** is not suppose to be ******* oval and **** but roudn gimme some feedback man

Rob x-7 02-16-2003 05:03 PM

cant help with the filter, but I would say to take the decals off

the door sill.

ROTARYROCKET7 02-16-2003 05:05 PM

um yeah but i dont want to damage the paint thats why i just got two. K&N and of course ECKO. The intake is fine and sounds nice and i feel a more responsive reaction when i press the gas and at idle. The apex is good too but im not gonna buy one since i just got this one lol

what does that have to do with the rice in this thread?

if the owner of that car had 5k to spend on his 7 it would have more vinyl than steel, considering $150 was spent on an air filter (now thats a smart buy) and it already has more stickers than windows.

if yer whining about cash it sounds like a personal problem https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

1Revvin7 02-16-2003 08:55 PM

haha @ pengaru

ROTARYROCKET7 02-16-2003 10:10 PM

very clean motor (compared to mine, anyway) ...you might want to think about leaving on the old intake portion that ran on

top of the fan shroud, as it moved fresh air to the intake

ROTARYROCKET7 02-17-2003 08:52 AM

YEAH I WAS THINKING ABOUT DOING THAT BALDY BUT I DUNNO I JUST TOOK IT OOFFF. MAYBE ILL RETHINK IT. IT DOES LOOK A LITTLE PLAIN RIGHT THERE LOL. SORRY THAT THE PICS ARE SO BIG. LOL

Baldy 02-17-2003 09:23 AM

and judging by that pic, you might want to check your tire pressure.

ROTARYROCKET7 02-17-2003 09:28 AM

The front tire got a dent by the rims so when i hit a bump some air comes out . Gotta get the wheel trued. lol.

ROTARYROCKET7 02-17-2003 09:32 AM

This is how my car looks now lol. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

then whats people's whole point in doing this mod if you are just going to take air from where the factory meant it to come from?

Baldy 02-18-2003 12:48 PM

the new filter has more surface area to suck air in, and less restriciton, less restriction means the less the engine has to work...that's how I look at it, but I could be wrong

Rob x-7 02-18-2003 12:50 PM

I just see the whole thing as a waste of time, the stock set up sucks air

just fine the way it is, nice cool air from atop the radiator and under the hood,

hence the reason for the gasket on the hood.

87RX7NA 02-18-2003 03:57 PM

The decals look alright, but I really like the intake. Better quality than my 20 dollar one. I need to get that headlight cover too. Anyways, nice car. You just need a 5-speed. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

hey .. in NYC .. how many inch of snow do you have ... ! here in quebec i thing we have less that you... heheh ..

ROTARYROCKET7 02-19-2003 10:24 AM

WE GOT LIKE 20'' of snow in my area. Ive posteed pics of my car covered in snow. check the snow pics of gen d ok. The stock air box has a hole probably one inch in diameter. Its mad tiny. The K&N intake or any other intake have a humungeous hole in the center where it straightens out the air and feeds it more directly into the intake. And maybe thats not a bad idea to leave the old intake duct there. I might put it back. Maybe when i can take alll the snow off my car lol. But i like my intake. ANd ffor thefive speed. Im getting it this summer. I got the headlight duct. Just got to wet sand it and paint it. then just install and watch the mouths dropp. It looks great though. I thinnk it wil help a litle bit with the air but not too much of a performance gain. lol
