Hello All,

Over the past week and a half I have been debating what to do with my 1989 Mazda Rx7 Normally Aspirated Automatic Transmission Convertible.

Well I think I have come to a conclusion of what I am going to do.

Against what some peoples opinions have been I am going to take this car and drop a turbo in it using the existing Normally Aspirated Engine, as I have seen it done successfully before.

On a positive note I will keep the boost levels low so as not to blow the motor, and put in whatever else to help as well.

Here is where I need some help. I cannot do any of the work myself, but can source all the parts. I am willing to pay someone to help me do this conversion. I will need them to advise me of what parts are needed and then to actually do all the work on the car. I am in the Palm Beach Florida Area, so if you are in between jobs, looking to make some extra money, familiar with what has to be done to do this conversion sucessfully, and live in or near the area....

Please contact me at either this email address aaronsbackup@yahoo.com or email me your contact phone number, and I will call you. Or call me at 561-213-9535, please leave a Voice Mail if I do not pick up.

I believe I may have already located a stock TII turbo and Intercooler. From what I have been told I will need to have a intake manifold custom fabricated so that I can bolt the TII turbo onto my existing motor...more than that I do not know.

Thanks!

Aaron

What is the reasoning behind using this engine with a turbo or just getting a Tii engine and making the complete swap?

I would think it would be easier and less expensive. May be I am wrong but a custom fab intake sounds like it would be expensive just by itself.

yeah, you could get the TII turbo, ECU, and driveline to put up with the power, but then all you'd be missing is the engine itself. Unless you just want to be different from most, then go for it. I'm eager to see how it turns out. (no sarcasm intended)

Hey mate,

doing the same thing here, except will be dropping in the turbo motor..

1988 'vert limited

most likely will be a 13bt mild/street port with a S5 highflow and haltek

i thought you wouldn't be able to just bolt on a turbo due to compression issues???

89 Vert N/A 01-22-2004 07:25 PM

Well I re-thought it out and will be doing the complete turbo motor swap as well https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
