I resently got myself a '91 T2, and i intend to have it as my weekend toy. Therefor i am wondering what i can get rid of under the hood? I want to loose everything thats not HAVE to be there..

Looking forward to youre suggestions.

ok, the engine will be rebuildt straight away just to be sure thats everything is A1. So i thought that i should get it ported right away, but, is there somethign i should beware as i am gonna run the original turbo and ecu for now. cant afford to get upgrades for that yet.

stock ecu is best on a stock port/turbo/intercooled engine, the more you change the worse its gonna run

hmmm....

the car has been sitting for over 5 years, so i really want to open it up and do a rebuild. But was thinking of doing a mild primary/wild secondary port job at the same time making it ready for the GT35/Autronic ems that im saving up for atm...

just do a decent streetport and it will be enough for you to feel it... and after you save up some cash you could invest in a whole new fuel/turbo/intercooler/everything else under the hood. But a streetport is as big as i would dare go w/out changing injectors/rails/computer/wiring harness... etc.

ABS, and an e-fan.

Bitteliten 03-22-2005 12:43 PM

ABS, PS and AC are already thrown out of the car and given to a friend.. =)

rats nest, all emission control devices, P/S, A/C, ABS, all idle control solenoids (i had none, with ported tb, and a bunch of others mods, still idled at 700rpms ons tock ecu), drop the normal battery for a lightweight drycell (i have an odyssey PC680, about 1/3 the size of a regular battery AND its drycell like an optima).

If you really wanna lose every pound you can get detailed, i dropped my P/S, so i removed the P/S ECU, when you remove ABS remove the ABS ECU, when you remove the A/C go into the heater box and remove the A/C Core part from the box (its under the dash by the main ECU)

Get rid of all the insulation from under the carpets or behind the plastic panels, dump the storage bins or rear seats.
