I am looking to get a boost gauge, oil pressure gauge and coolant temp gauge. I do not trust my stock gauges at all. They both sit in the middle of the gauge no matter how hot/much pressure there is. I want to get good gauges but not spend an arm getting them. Any suggestions? looking for what people have and what they spent.
ALSO, I've heard pretty much the only way to mount an oil pressure gauge is to tap inot one of the irons. Seeing as doing this would require a rebuild due to shavings in the engine, is there a better way?? Sorry to sound like such a noob, just want to do it right, even iof I have to spend the money. |
i have an oil pedestal adapter block from racing beat. it's already threaded for a gauge. if you trust an electronic oil pressure gauge you can have one in your cabin but still need an adapter of some sort. bang for buck would be vdo i would think...

Whats wrong with the stock oil pressure location?

I have an Auto Meter sprot comp oil pressure gauge works great, never gives me any trouble, I just taped the side of the oil filter housing and put it in.

We always use pedastools or remote filter locations.
I like Blitz gauges. Defi is good also. For evrything but oil I run front a Ztron wide band. |

Whats wrong with the stock oil pressure location? Are most sensors that come with the gauges same thred pattern as stock? That would be my route if at all possible. What is the thread pattern on stock so I can look for that when getting gauges. I know Defi gauges are good, along with the more expensive electronic ones. I am looking for the best bang for my buck. I will check out the VDO's. I have hear dof those before. |
Well I searched around online tonight. BAsically if I want something nice that looks good I am going to pay around +/- 200$ a gauge. That sucks. Has anyone had good luck with any mechanical boost gauges. I know that mechanical oil pressure and water temp gauges are usually pretty accurate, but I did the math from the Kpa on my laptop to what my cheapy mech boost gauge read and it was 10 in/hg off in vacuum. Cant imagine what it is in boost.
Any answers on any mechanical gauges would be nice because I dont feel like dropping around 650$ for 3 gauges and a link unit..... |
You don't need the link unit. They are usually $120-150 a gauge for name brand bling bling.
The stock location is BSM thread pitch, basically straight cut metric, you can force a npt in there, ask me how I know LOL. There are also adaptors everwhere etc. Matt if you need some help with fittings etc just call me at the shop... |
What do you mean I dont need the link unit? How are you supposed to run the gauges without it??
What is your phone number, I lost it along with my phone last winter? |
