hey guys check this out. i went to go out to eat with my family for the last week my car has been idling wierd but i thought nothing of it (it goes from like 1200 to 1700 rpms randomly). now it died on me in traffic a few times when i was slowing down but i would just pop the clutch and it would start right back up again. anyways i finally got to the restraunt and i pulled in to a parking space and it died right as i was pulling in but it rolled in so i like screw it im hungry so i just parked it. and hour later i came out to try and start it and it wouldnt start, we tried pull starting it but the engine just kept turning over but it didnt start. so we figured it was getting fuel so we changed the fuel filter right there in the parking lot.. and then we cracked the fuel line to the motor it is getting gas. the whole car smells like gas now too.. i was thinking its flooded but i have no idea what to do about it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

pull the egi fuse and crank the engine for 15-20 sec (keep foot depressed on gas pedal). then pop fuse back in and turn key. if that doesnt work try again. it prolly ruins ur starter in the long run but it will get ur car started. let me look for the link

everything you said is right except keeping your foot on the pedal.... you should crank it with your foot off the pedal.

i had to crank mine with my foot on the pedal. even when i had the fuse back in after de-flooding it i had to have my foot on the gas pedal. if not it just didnt work. oh and brandon if it wdoesnt work with 3 tries, keep trying, it takes a while depending on how flooded ur engine is.

I think keeping your foot on the pedal works on S5 FC's and not S4's. I would check the vacuum lines to make sure none have popped off or cracked off.

what i told him to do worked. he got it started. he IM'd me a while ago

Cool. I never had much of a problem with mine flooding. Most of the time I would just pull the plugs and clean them off or pull the fuse and crank it.

mine flooded once at a gas station (what a coincidence)

I just let it sit while i flipped through the shop manual and fidgeted with fuses, then tried again and it started. I just discovered there is a fuel pump cut off switch installed by the previous owner tucked under the dash board. I guess he used to shut it off regularly without warming it up? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

only happened once in the year I drove it daily.
