[quote name='dltreezan' date='Apr 6 2005, 09:49 AM']so what ended up being the deal with the paint job you didnt like?

The paint is dupont basecoat/clear coat. Well there were some spots that had pimples that needed tending to, some small dents on the aluminum hood. The rear bumper paint has smudges in it. The side strips have pimples to rival any teenager with acne and they were not installed on the car, I have to do that. I called the guy yesterday and told him the car looks like **** and he needs to repaint it or I will give it to some one else and have them do it and give him the bill. He then told me to bring it back and he will do it because I have warrantee on the paint.

Black8 04-07-2005 03:52 PM

who painted it, MAACO?

Jedi 04-07-2005 11:57 PM

Dude that sounds worse than even Maaco would send out.

Thats what I told them. MAACO could have done a better job. I still owe them a small balance but I wouuld rather pay them that and have them repaint the car.

All things considered, it turned out very well!

Did the paint issues get resolved? It seems a great many body shops are not happy about doing full repaints, they like the paycheck involved, but not the work. Insurance work has spoiled too many good ppl in the business, imo, they get way too much money for small production jobs.

Fc body panels are so damn thin to begin with, it takes weeks of work to try and make the panels flat and then more time to block the base coat flat before the clear. Aluminum hoods are the worst once anyone uses body putty on one there is little chance of it even looking straight and smooth again.

Paint situation still not resolved yet. The guy told me get the car running and then take it to him. I guess he is tired of pushing the car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
