Hey guys, https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/excl.png

I'm sorry, as this may be a stupid question https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/ban.gif , but I am a first time Rx7 owner (88vert) and something crazy happened to me on the road today. As I was driving, the car suddenly died on me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif (thank GOD that the road was clear, as it usually is a very buzy NYC road) although for some of us rex owners, our cars stalling may not be new https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif, the weird/stupifying part is this (and thus the reason why I post)

As I was comming to a stop, dropped the car into neutral and was braking (to stop @ a red light) the car dies on me completely, meaning 1. the engine stops 2. all my lights go off (including headlights, interior lights, aka NO JUICE whatsoever) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

So, I figure since there's no juice whatsoever that it can only be a handful of things, so I open the hood and check the main fuse box (they're all good) check the connectors on the battery (again looks soild to me) ... ...

So, im frustrated, https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif about to call friends to bail me out so, again in my frustration, I decide to hit my battery and my main fuse box, and jiggle some wires around LO & BEHOLD IT WORKS! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...doublebird.gif my headlights & my hazard lights (which I turned on forgetting that I had no electricity) and I wearily start it up and drive it right back home. Now I fear to take it for a spin until I deal with this new problem. (not to cast any doubt on the good ol' cavemanesque bash method of fixing complex MechE / EE problems ) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683607.gif

so here are the million dollar questions ... :

1. has this ever happened to anyone?

2. if im the retard (cuz this is a common problem and didn't search hard enough) can someone clue me in so that I can fix this?

3. where should I start looking?

Help!

not to sound like a reject, but in my life of driving i've had alternators die on me & batteries die on me (in various cars) and NEVER has the vehicle just died out on me in the manner in which my rx7 did

not sure of this or not, but you should make sure that all fuses are in all the way... and check the wires to the main fuse box... not really know what your problem is, and i havnt heard of it before, but just a suggestion, trying to help... let us know how this pans out!

I had a problem somewhat similar, though still no guarantee this is the cause...

I came out one morning and found a dead battery =( So my friend and i jumped it, it ran for like 1min before stalling out just like yours, the engine and everything electrical. We jumped again (with alot of effort this time) and it came back but the idle kept dropping and if you didnt hold the gas and keep it around like 1k rpm itd stall.

Sooo i found a yellow wire with an 80amp fuse on it, and put it to the negative terminal... and holy ****, problem solved 0.0

umm? meaning that you added a yellow wire w/ an 80amp fuse on it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png aka u started addressing the grounding issues with the FC? or you found a yellow wire int he car w/ an 80 amp fuse on it (which I think the only thing w/ an 80amp fuse is the main fuse in the main fuse box) ...

I had the same problem about a month ago, but it was just a yellow wire with an 80A fuse i found laying under the battery, i connected it to the positive terminal and it ran perfectly, no further electrical problems. So make sure that wire it connected to your positive terminal, if it is, look for other stuff, but that was just what my problem was.

OK buddy, i foudn this in another thread ... in that one you said postive terminal ... now i'm just confused by what you said in my thread ... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png
