I wasn't getting any views in Running Gear last time I posted this so I wanted to try here.

I have KYB AGX's now and Eibach pro-kits. This fall I was going to get Ground Control sleeves with Eibach ERS springs at 450 front, 325 rear and Tein or JIC upper front mounts/camber plates and Koni bumpstops = about $650.00 or get true coilover dampers like Tein RA's which I believe are around $1200?

What does everyone have or recommend on their FC with autocross/road course racing in mind? How much did they cost and where? I don't want to lose my AGX's but if real coilovers are the way to go, then I'll sell them.

I have a set of MazdaSpeed coilovers sitting in a box in my garage. They are a pretty blue color, but that's all I know right now. I'll give you some feedback once I get them installed.

cool, keep it coming

Rotaryman88 07-18-2003 03:06 PM

I was looking at the K2RD..they seem like they'd be good for setting up my drag suspension...what shock are most of you guys w/ the K2RD running?

i got a ride in rxchx7's S5 TII with the hks hiper suspension its NICE! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

mazdadrifter 07-18-2003 05:01 PM

at the rate recommended for the fc's, the ground control kit is more setup for autox or road coarse, and combined with the agx's (set to full hard) is damn near a race car setup

if you don't plan to autox or road race, I'd probably recomend a little softer spring all around, nothing rediculous 50lbs lighter maybe. It'll help with your weight transfer for any drag, or street racing, and it will be a more comfortable ride

ps, agx's own

dvls-7 07-19-2003 05:25 AM

If you are to able to.....go with the Teins. Trust me you will not be disappointed. If budget concerns then go with the Eibach. I have the ground control with tokico 5 way. No complaints....they work good. I'll be upgrading to the Teins...you get a wider range of adjustments with the Teins. Just my .02

Tein prices

The Teins are tempting. The cheapest I saw the HA's for was $1080 at rxecret7.com but I'd rather not go there.. had a bad experience before with those guys.

A buddy of mine has a shop and hes a dealer for Tein i can find out a price if you want.

The Tein, JIC, Mazdaspeed, and HKS coilovers are in an entirely different ballpark from the Ground Control and K2RD setups. The Tein HA's and HE's are awesome, and the JIC FLT-A2's are incredible, the HKS hiper damper and the Apexi N1 coilovers are the best you can get.

sure, let me know..

You said you have GC's now. What spring rates on the Eibachs and how tall did you order the springs? If I go that route, I was thinking 425/325 and 6" tall in the front and 9" tall in the rear. I was reading somewhere that if you don't specify, GC will send you 7" tall fronts and 10" tall rears which would actually raise your car 1" but still allow up to a 1.5" drop.

I do like my AGX's and it would be cheaper at this point but when you add it up new, the GC's and AGX's would be around $800 anyhow and that is with no bumpstops or upper mounts.

Jerk_Racer 07-20-2003 01:23 AM

I got the JIC FLT-A2's and I really enjoy them. I've never had anything in the car other than them and the worn out stock stuff so I can't really say how they are compared to any other setup. I bought the set when I was in Japan. They are valved stiffer than the stuff that is sent over here from what I was told by some dealers. But they're still comfortable around town. The springrates are 390f/280r.

Corprin 07-20-2003 02:24 AM

I would stay away from JIC USA products. My buddy Benson sent in some money for a set for his "sil-eighty" and 3mo later they have no clue what he is talking about. His sale was lost, along with the invoice. They are saying his recipt is a fake, and will not deal with him.

Boycott those ass holes!

Jerk_Racer 07-20-2003 04:25 AM

Well, as I said I got mine in Japan. They were a lot less expensive over there. However, eventually the time will come when they need to be rebuilt. Hopefully I won't have a nightmare of an experience with that procedure.

What's the diff between the K2RD and GC sleeves? I noticed the K2RD springs are yellow, what brand are they?

Cheers! 07-21-2003 02:19 PM

Eibach ERS.

actually aren't hte K2RD coilover sleeves the same as the GC ones? how come k2rd doesn't need the helper spring?

the k2rd are steel sleeves, the steel bends the aluminum snaps

GC uses ERS too, just diff color I guess.

So the K2RD's are about $40 cheaper... hmm

TougeMax 07-21-2003 04:25 PM

I have JIC FLT-A2's, and so far they are great, but real stiff though. I'm still breaking in the setup, and will re-adjust after everything has settled in.

JIC USA is that bad? I got mine through Rotary Xecret, and I didn't experience any problems, except that they said mine had to be special ordered from Japan, and made me wait 3 and half weeks.

Other than that, everything looked great! Oh they didn't include any directions though, not that you need any, but I'm just surprised to NOT see any directions at all.
