I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't find it. Can I take the clutch pack out of a first gen diff and drop it in an S5 N/A diff? If so do I need to use the big or small axle first gen diff?

To be honest, I don't think you can..... I've only done work on T2 LSDs, but I know the FB and FC part numbers are totally different. T2 FC and FDs are interchangeable though...
Just curious..but why would you want to do this? I would think the clutch pack out of the FB would have smaller discs... |

Just because I have so many FB LSD's layin around it would cost me $0 to throw one in the FC. I would just like to know before I waste a day pulling the diff out of my daily driver to find out. According to Mazdatrix, the clutch discs are interchangable. I know for a fact the ring gear is also interchangable. |
yep the 84-85 big axel diffs go right in, only difference in the fc is the retarded long pinion

what about a t2 dif internals in to a gsl se housing?
|
See, I learn new things everyday too... wouldn't have thought the 84/85 LSDs clutch packs swapped into an FC... I guess only the GSL and GSL-SE FBs have the big axles?
