OK I bought an s4 turbo II gauge cluster off ebay. The thing only had 1200 miles on the cluster, was figuring I would either keep it as a backup or install the custom gauges and sell it for a small profit. Anyhow, it has a small red LED in the temp gauge that says "FAN" I have never seen that before and mine doesn't have it, unless I didn't notice it, but I am pretty sure it doesn't have it.

Anyone else have it?

j9fd3s 12-20-2002 05:29 PM

the manual mentions something about it but i dunno that ive ever seen one

pengaru 12-20-2002 07:39 PM

88 TurboII gauge cluster

1Revvin7 12-20-2002 07:50 PM

coo, so whats it for? the aux e-fan or what?

phinsup 12-20-2002 07:52 PM

LOL thanks, saved me taking the pic. That is what it looks like, I dunno. I just bought it as a spare gauge set, they only have 1200 miles on them, been sitting in some dudes attic for 14 years LOL

Rob x-7 12-20-2002 07:58 PM

You could easily modify your current gauge cluster to read 1200 miles as well!

phinsup 12-20-2002 08:05 PM

Well my point was that they are barely used, I wasn't talking about slapping it in mine to lower the milage, if I did put it in mine I would prolly crank the milage to 50K anyhow, just so I have an accurate measurement of my milage. I may throw some silver gauges on it and put it on ebay, I could probably get 75 to 100 for the cluster and gauge faces installed.

pengaru 12-20-2002 08:09 PM

speaking of gauges...

I need to do something about my S4 NA gauge cluster, the new motor will be 9k+ capable, any suggestions on a way to make the tach go that high? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I'd prefer to keep the tach stock appearing.... not some big assed thing mounted on the dash...

a friend suggested I get a westach tach and just fit it into the cluster ... not really what I want though.

Rob x-7 12-20-2002 08:09 PM

Probably better to keep it as a spare

what model and whats needed to drive it? any pics / urls of specs?

i/m not likely interested though...

if I were to spend that much on this, I'd probably get motec engine management and get the motec ADL to go with it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

lol..its old series 1...you dont want it. you'll need all new sensors throughout the engine and car for either a motec or a stack dash. I set one motec up on a AMS/cosworth DSR and i grubbed the old dash off of the owner of the car. I was going to build a 13B powered D sports racer, I had about a 1/4 of the design work done ...then my life fell apart and now i sweep the floors in a motor shop https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

ps...where the **** did you find a motec dash & ecu for 1100?

i didnt, but if i'm going to spend > 1k for a gauge cluster equivalent... I'm going all out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

but I'll just stick with the stock looking one, if people see a stack or motec adl in the car they'll never wanna race for $$ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Get a S5 instrument gauge cluster from the na manual tranny models.

I have one on my s4 TII, now with a 9k tach. Looks better than the s4 all the way.
