Over the past 2 year's or so i have been useing the Factory Mazda oil filter when i do my oil changes.
From what i've heard it's one of the best. I mean hell. it cost around 6$ Is this a false statement? Is it really a good filter or am i just waisting my money when i could be buying something like a K&N Oil Filter or even a purolator filter. Thanks for the help. P.S My Mechanic at Mazsport Inc. told me it's one of the best. He also swears on useing Castrol 20w 50 as an oil. Unless running like highly modified 500 HP engines. than he uses Synth. Besides the point. Is he wrong on the oil filter? |
best oil filter in my opinion is the K&N oil filter, too bad the thing is like 20 bucks each.
for that price i can get 3 mazda filters. Mazda filters are very good, i use mazda filters, i change my oil every 2000 miles or less so i can't afford the K&N. Castrol 20W50 is also very good, if you have a TII. If you have a NA i would stick with 10W30, it also depends on what the climate is like. However the best oil that money can buy is redline motor oil, again $$$$$$. |
the japanese mazda filters are the best, i have one cut open and they cram twice as much stuff in there, as a regular filter. the japanese filters are available thru ralphh@dgdg.com . mazda usa makes thier own, and they are not as good

mazdatrix sells the jap spec filters. I bought a few off them last year.
|
serious? all i knew was that Mazda Canada makes their own as well.
I didn't know US and JDM was different |
i use a K&N oil filter. In my job it costs $12.99 but the way i see it is. Buy one steal one , two , three for free. I have like 3 K&N oil filters and i only use Castrol GTX 20W-50 High Mileage anything esle would be uncivilized lol

dont cry, a ferrai 355 filter costs $75 net, i just use the nice fram XG3593A, bling bling silver metallic and that nice grip stuff in the top https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
|
if I put out a filter that cost $15.99 everyone would think its the
best. |
how about if it was 35.49?

I'm using the Mazda filters now but I never understood why people insist that the OEM filter for any car is the best, yet these filter companies who all they do is make filters aren't as good.. What about the Purolator Pure One? I used to use nothing but those.
|
i only used three different filters mazda, pure one and K&N. i think i'm gonna stick with the K&N they are cool. you can use a socket to loosen it up !

lol thats why I use the K&N, I like the fact that you can get a socket or wrench on it! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
ratchet on any oil filter. And still be cheaper then the K&N. |
Why do you guys torque the bejeezus out of them? I just put them on as tight as I can twist them on. Wearing rubber gloves while working on my car definitely helps get a solid grip on the can.
|
i tighten them by hand but on a FD there is NO room to unscrew it...
|
Neither did I. That is until I took out the A/C and P/S. Now oil changes and spark plug changes are a breeze. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif
|
well my old FC i took that out. swapping the engine is gonna be a few hour process and will be so easy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

fram is bad mmmkay
in one of the web site tests there was glue found on the clean side of the element in a fram when they took it apart, like a loose booger. **** that. |

Another word of advice stay away from WIX and Moroso
I had a Wix filter burst at a measly 70 psi oil pressure on the dyno once, and the moroso filter might as well be a coffee filter. |
