Okay so here is what happens. When I drive the car everything runs fine, no sputters, no skips, nothing wrong. The exhaust is HKS down-pipe to an HKS high power cat back with a test pipe. The car does however run rich and I dont need any sort of guage to tell from the exhaust gasses swirling in the muffler tip. So anyway here is what I experience, when I drive with the windows down I get a strong exhaust gas odor in the cabin which generally leads to a headache. However, when I ride with my windows and sunroof closed I do not smell anything odd. Are these cars bad about recirulating exhaust gasses back over the car into the cabin when the windows are open? Any answers or input would be great. Thanks,

-Bill.

Yeah they smell...it's great! I'm sure people with knowledge will tell you where you can get a proper 02 sensor and wideband 02 gauge....

Check your hatch gasket maybe? I've had that happen with open trunks/tailgates before...

All of my window seals are fine. I cannot smell it when they are all closed, but when they are open you get a strong exhaust gas smell in the cabin. I would love to get a wideband o2 sensor and gauge but the rainbow thats installed now actually stays on rich when I am driving it. Whats even more weird to me, when I first start it from sitting over night it starts out on lean and slowly climbs up to rich. It used to rainbow when I first put it in (I know, they are worth ****, it was free) but it sits right on rich constantly. Meh Idk I do wanna get a wideband setup though.

02 doesnt give proper readings when cold. If you removed your cats id just say get used to the smell or be prepared to spend the money to retune

thats what I was afraid of.

if your rear hatch does not seal GOOD it will create a boat load of vacume with the sunroof open and suck the gasses in.. idk if windows could do the same...

Hatch seals and tail light seals are a must. When i first got my rx the gas smell was horrible but the hatch seal was bad. I replaced it and it helped a bit but still had exhaust smell. then i took out the taillights and saw all the seals where gone so i went to home depot and bought high density weather strip and removed remaining seals and replaced them all and the smell was almost gone i said there cant be no more holes. i took out spare tire and the bottom of the well was rusted out so filled it with fiberglass and found a tiny hole where the jack sits covered it up and the smell was gone. Praise the gods !! ! it is a process but can be done you have to search and destroy

well I was planning on getting some window stipping for my windshield because it has a couple places that leak when I wash it or when it rains. Was just going to take interior panels out and find, then fill. I may try taking my tail lights out and seeing if the seals are bad. I dont remember them being bad but...that was also nearly two years ago when I installed them. Also, the drain plug for the spare tire is missing its plug. I may also try replacing the hatch seal just for shits in grins to see if it makes any difference. ill let you guys know if anything changes, thanks a ton for the input by the way.
