I started to do the engine swap on my turbo II and the exhaust looks pretty rigged, its been welded a few time and the mufflers have rotted out at the bottomm, i dont really wanna buy an expensive performance full exhuast. i was wondering if it would be a good idea to buy a hks or other performance companys down pipe and then just get pipe made that goes all the way back to a singe muffler replaceing the duel rears. i figured this would get rid of the y pipe wich i hear is pretty restrictive, im also not sure what to use for a muffler. and sugjestions what i should do.... thanks

Budget/performance turbo exhaust:
Any smooth bend, un-wrinkled 2 1/2" pipe will do fine. The turbine acts a little like a pre-silencer, so you don't have to have a mid-pipe presilencer like an NA. A big glass pack will do OK at the back where the exhaust is cooler. That should handle up to a ~300HP engine. |
yeah you may think the turbo makes it quieter.... not in my case, i have a rb down pipe, presilencer, 2.5'' piping, and a stupid huge muffler, it's louder then my buddies, N/A with 2.5'', a cherry bomb for a silencer, and a huge can. it makes no sense.

rb 250 bucks gets you a dp , connecting pipe and test pipe, then just buy or assemble a cheap cat back
He will probably get way louder when the fiberglass in his pre-silencer melts. Compare them again afetr a few weeks. |
he's been driving like that for 2 months mines still louder
