I received excellant news today, I have finally worn out my complete ehaust system and get to buy new! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif My problem is I'm not sure what to buy. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png So I need some input please. I have an 89 rx-7 fc na. I'm not a racer, but I do enjoy the benefits that only a rotary provides. I like a little noise but not ricey! I will be replacing the motor within a year or so as she smokes a little now and again. Will have some minor mods done when I have the motor built (at Hayes Rotary in Redmond WA). Maybe ported a little. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

I don't know about Hayes, they have had a few negative comments on the other forum in the Northwest section. I would stick with Pineappleracing or Atkinsrotary. I'm with Amp, racingbeat is great.

relisys190 03-31-2003 02:07 PM

Racing beat is an excellent company... THey are obviously designed for Rotary engine

I personally like Borla . I've used them for more than 2 years, with no I'll Effects. The Exhaust tone is great. and when i hit about 5500 the damn thing sounds like a Formula 1 car. Absolutly Love it.

Expect to pay an arm or leg for either. Racingbeat or Borla. Again. They are both very high quality, and both come with a lifetime warranty

Just my 7 Cents https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

ROTARYROCKET7 03-31-2003 04:32 PM

Racing Beat is top dawg but ive heard good from Borla....any of the two will do ya good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

Blink 03-31-2003 05:29 PM

mazdatrix true duals? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

People seem to Review the Racing Beat well.. I've personally never heard anything but my GT Spec and a Jic Bullet on a TII. I've lived a sheltered FC life https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

CrazyAssRX7 03-31-2003 06:00 PM

y cant everyone just say racing beat?

the only problem with rb is the price though

while ur at it

get a rb header

thatll put a lil more noise in

Rob x-7 03-31-2003 07:00 PM

this is in the FAQ section by the way.

Your price range will dictate what exaust you will buy.

mazdaspeed101 03-31-2003 08:19 PM

i bought a corksport for my turbo2 but it is for n/a also it was only 280 but it aint too loud and it comes with the piping from the cat to the muff, it seems that some people dont like corksport exhaust but i like it

Get the true duals, i got the system in november and love it.. just don't expect to pass the emissions with that.... get a junkyard stock exhaust on the side

serpent12 03-31-2003 09:24 PM

The Apexi N1 Dual looks pretty sweet.. I imagine it would have good flow as well

ILUVMY88CABRIO 03-31-2003 10:17 PM

Cool a new WA st. member! Don't got to hayes! Please.

As far as the exhaust, buy the a kit offered from Mazdatrix It has a real nice tone to it.

TurboSmoke 03-31-2003 11:04 PM

if you got the money go with the greddy power extreme. its a bad ass exhaust, if not i would get the apexi N1 duels

Jerk_Racer 04-01-2003 02:05 AM

Don't go to Hayes. All bolt on mods should be done yourself. Get Corksport stuff. They're down I-5 and shipping isn't bad at all. I got the CS cat-back for $303 to my door. It's good stuff.

BTW, welcome aboard. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

FCmaniac 04-01-2003 06:07 AM

I just got the CS cat back too because I'm cheap... well its the cheapest stainless out there. I saved about $40 shipping over getting a dual system anywhere not local and the shipping was FAST. I can tell this thing will be loud just looking at the straight through muffler.

go to mazdatrix.com and tell me if that's y-pipe configuration

or here's the pic

pengaru 04-01-2003 11:37 AM

if only the racingbeat exhaust were lighter.... other than the weight the RB stuff is great.

Borla=loud, very loud

I have Borla, if RB was stainless when I did my exaust I would have bought it, now I am switching to the RB mufflers because they are made in

stainless now.

I'm seriously considering Hayes for my new engine, What problems have you guys heard about? I have two very strong recomendations for them, and have talked to Don several times myself and he has been really helpful. I'm going to have Bill at Auto World in Portland OR, install the new engine because I'm am not able to do it myself. Not mechanically inclined.

thanks

rx7machine 04-05-2003 09:25 AM

I have the Apexi duals on my FC. It looks damn good. I'm not certain how it compares to any other FC exhaust but I think it's cool. Once I get a digital camera, I'll post some pics.

ILUVMY88CABRIO 04-05-2003 10:58 AM

Well, I'm good friends with a guy who worked for Hayes, and now has his own rotary shop. He said he would never buy from them, he gets his engines from Atkins. He said that now the just have a bunch of retards working there, and they don't hyave a clue. Other than that, I belive there is a guy over on the club who has had to have his new engine replaced 3 - 4 times because he had blown the thing 3 or 4 times (this was like a year ago), last I heard I think he was going to sue. I ran into a guy at Pacific Raceway who had taken his car to Hayes to have them figure out why his car was running like ****. They ended up charging him $1000 to replace the EGR, and I think one or two other things. He got his car back, and it didn't run any better. He then made the mistake of bringing it back there so they'd fix the problem. Well anothe $800 later the car still didn't run any better. He took his car to another rotary shop, they replaced a broken vac line, and adjusted the TPS, and the car ran fine after that. The list of bad Hayes stories goes on and on. Please don't go there, go to Atkins or Pineapple.

ChainSawOnSteroids 04-05-2003 07:24 PM

i have stock mani and custom 2.5 inch piping into a single APEXi Dunk muffler,

sounds ok but a bit ricey, i like the Greddy power extreme and APEXi N1's

and you have to get duals single doesnt look as good (im getting another APEXi Dunk to go dual)
