The GFH: GXL From Hell
I have seam-welded the front strut sheetmetal, now need to paint engine compartment |
I've been waiting on parts, just started port matching last night:
http://pengaru.com/~swivel/cars/rx-7...2/IMG_1815.JPG one port matched to the engine ports (mazdatrix street port) the other stock. It's amazing how much smaller the stock LIM ports are than the stock gasket.... of course the gasket expands some when compressed but damn, the engine ports were nowhere near as mismatched, mazdatrix left me with not a whole lot of material between the primary ports so the LIM is going to get a bit thin there, I'm not too concerned though. After the LIM+engine are all matched I'll clean the housings up and start assembling, shouldnt be too much longer after that. Gotta find that GTUs rear end banzai managed to get his hands on  More pics here: S5 NA buildup 10-22-2002 some of the parts pictured... RB hardened stationary gears S5 NA rotors 20mm freeze plugs for those coolant passages in the turbo rotor housings housings semi-assembled for port matching eccentric shaft oil jet mod (weber jet) 'street' oil pressure regulator fast yellow electric tape. clean oil pan dillema with exhaust port exposed on bottom of S4 manifold on S5 intermediate housing, will probably braze some aluminum stock onto the bottom of the LIM to block that hole. beginnings of throttle body porting... |
I have a lead on another!

Glad to hear about everyone's project. Looks like there are more NA projects going on then I thought(good to hear it, it's nice to see fast NON turbo rx7s, lol). Just a quickie on my project...
I got the motor in the car, wiring harness connected(what a PIA that was!), manifolds, turbo, fuel injectors, etc...the car is pretty much done..I need to get new SS oil lines and a few misc belts and hoses...shouldn't be too long now. After all this is done and the motor runs, I'm getting lowering springs/shocks/FMIC and putting my new BOV on...that's it for winter..come spring I'll get the haltech e6k, gt35/40 turbo kit, and my FC2000 front end https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif |
