Anyone hear of such a thing? I saw one on ebay today... it's basically an NA 13B 6 port lower manifold with no actuators. I couldn't tell if this was a custom job or did Mazda actually make these? If you run no sleeves, I could see how this would help flow.

yup it exists pics

cool... so would it bolt up to an S4 with no modifications other than taking out the ACV and sleeves?

j9fd3s 12-03-2002 02:07 PM

it looks like it would, but the way find out is to see if the gaskets are the same

Were could I find one of those from?

Notice the butterfly valves on the top of the manifold (AUX Ports).

pengaru 12-04-2002 12:51 AM

why are they different between the euro and US?

Turbo II 12-04-2002 12:53 AM

because they are. JK

I think there would be less restricton in the U.S. models. The rotating valves in the euro version look like they would disrupt airflow more than the smooth sleeves in the U.S. versions.

j9fd3s 12-04-2002 11:29 AM

did you also notice that the euro car has a thermal reactor and a distributor?

Yes, it does fit....we have this manifold (with removed sleeves and other crap) mounted on my US NA S4 block.....

j9fd3s 12-04-2002 01:16 PM

great, how did it affect performance compared to an US S4 with the stock sleeves & actuators still in and working?

dac 12-04-2002 07:57 PM

The one on E-Bay is different than the link you posted. The E-bay item has no provision for the butterfly valves.

j9fd3s 12-04-2002 08:07 PM

the euro car is rated at 148hp @6500rpm and 134 lbs/ft @3000

the ecu, and wiring would be a good upgrade for a gsl-se
