Hello,

I am asking this for a friend who found a complete turbo II in a junkyard in good condition. He wants to buy the motor and rebuild it and swap it into a 90-91 vert. I dont know much about second gens so i couldnt help hum much.

ok so what will he need?

like i said teh turbo Ii is complete. I take it we will need to swap the wiring harness with it?

thanks guys,

sorry for my noobie post

nobody? damn

Scrap the vert and buy the TII man. The TII is lighter, handles better, and in my opinion looks better. Save the TII's!!!!! What year is the TII?

the engine will fit but you need to update it to s5, or backdate the whole car electrically to s4

you need the tranny as well

just buy the tII https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Alot of rewiring for a vert. Hmm easier if you get haltech https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

there is a big problem with the TII. It is in the back corner of a junkyard behind 3 rows of cars parked door to door-bumper to bumper. If we can find a way to get her out, we will def do it.

I havent seen the car personally, just some of my frineds have.

He really wants a vert rx7 (verts do rule) just as a cruser.

thanks for your help. Any parts we should knab if we pull the engine? I think it would be easiest to go with haltech....

you need the whole drivetrain; tranny/starter/slave cylinder/diff/halfshafts, the computer; engine and dash harness, and the AFM and pressure sensor... Along with the hood or FMIC, haltech would make it alot easier in the wiring department... It would be way easier, like 1000x, to just rebuild the engine and put it back in the t2

rfreeman27 05-16-2003 04:50 PM

i agree, but the turbo II is going to be a MASSIVE bitch to move...

i havent seen it in person, my frineds tell me its in good shape, but its in a junkyard for a reason, so it might not even be useable.

Apex13B 05-16-2003 06:41 PM

leave the vert NA, and go for the t2! I have a vert, they do suck very much

pengaru 05-16-2003 06:43 PM

just ask the guy in the office to have his workers move the car, they have machinery for moving the cars around. buy the t2 if the chassis is straight.

Rotaryman88 05-16-2003 07:05 PM

Yea...

Look, if you do go ahead with the conversion from the 88T2 to the '90+ vert...it's gonna be 10X the pain of simply moving the T2 and rebuilding the motor in it.

To put an s4 motor in the s5 car...you need everything 1revvin7 listed, and the interior harnesses. Of course, haltech would solve all these problems. There are many differences in the s4 cars and s5 electronically...

1revvin7 and I have both done an NA to turbo conversion...and both of us would say(I know you'd agree 1revvin) that rebuilding a T2 motor and putting it back in the T2 would be SOOOO much easier and way less headache...not to mention, you would restoring a car, not destroying two of them...

rfreeman27 05-18-2003 06:38 PM

ok well the TII is really destroyed. I thouhgt he told me it was in good shape, but he ment only the drivetrain.

the office is a shack and the workers dont exist https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

pengaru 05-19-2003 05:04 AM

most the junkyards i go to have a 'office' which is a shack, and workers, who don't speak english and can't get legal employment in the country.... in any case, you have to consider how the car got back in the corner and surrounded by other cars if they are all trashed... they junkyards have equipment for moving cars around.

since the car is wrecked anyways i guess it doesnt matter.

rfreeman27 05-19-2003 04:50 PM

well an update, i misunderstood/ got bad info from my friends.

the TII looks like it got ran over by a truck. The roof is crumpled in so there is no saving it.

it is in the back corner of the lot, behind like 40 rows of cars bumper to bumper. Im thinking that

this prob will not happen, but the engine may be very very cheep.

rbrtech 05-19-2003 05:29 PM

bobby wich shop?

taco-salad 05-19-2003 05:50 PM

if you do get that turbo engine, i would rebuild that thing, you don't know how long that thing has been sitting there, or even if it runs, get a streetport job while you;re in there too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png .
