Hi, I was just woundering what would be needed to swap out the engine in a 88 gxl with a 89-92 engine. It would be a higher hp motor in a lighter car right. I don't want to do a TII swap, Just N/A all the way.

Just a waste of money, unless its free and your bored, its not worth the time or money for 14hp. What you should do( if you are really set on this) is rebuild your 88 motor and have 89+(s5) rotors put in, and you could swap the intake setup if you like. The reason the s5 motors have more power is because of the lightened rotors.

But if you are set on doing this swap, you will need the motor, wiring harness, computer and dash harness.

Would a S4 motor work in a S5 with the S5 intake and EFI on it???I know I need the S5 front cover for the electric OMP but other than that it should hold a person over for awhile shouldn't it???I might buy a S5 Na soon here and I need a temporary engine in it while the stock S5 engine gets a rebuild.

any help is appreciated on this topic.I might buy it at the end of the month. If the guy lets it go for the right price. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yeah that would work, s4 motor and s5 front cover. Or you could just leave the electrical omp hanging ther, and use the complete s4 motor. The electric omp just has to be hookup, right? Better get some more advice...
