Sounds like you have a blown coolant seal. Inspect all your cooling system hoses and connections, check to see if your reservoir is consuming coolant or boiling over, etc.

But usually with a blown coolant seal inside the engine, it will burn coolant until it warms up enough for the thermal expansion to close the gap just enough to bring the smoke level down...

Do you have nay idea on the cost of repair for this problem.

Thanks, egc87rx7

You are looking at engine replacement

There is a larger price gap between turbo and naturally aspirated models

You are looking at anywhere from $500 - $3000 depending on if you are doing the work yourself, or sublet for a professional, using a used motor, new motor, etc..

wait wait wait, does that smoke come out of the exhaust tips or from under the car?

It comes out of the exhaust. I seen on a previous posting the same symntoms as my car is having and they recommended that it needed a new fuel injector. To let you know again the exacts. When I start the vehicle up it blows out an enormous amount of thick pure white smoke. The car had been setting for about a year and a half when I got it last weekend. I put a fresh battery, and five gallon of gas in it. I got in turn the switch over the engine turned over about five time before it started but when it did it fired up idled as good as you could ask for it to. It never died but it blew the white smoke I was describing. It lasted for a good 10-15 min before it cleared up. My friend that I got the car from followed me about 15 miles back to my home it never smoked any on the way home. I turned it off and some 3-4 hours later I came out and washed it good staarted it up to pull it in the garage to wax it and when I did it blew the white smoke again for about 3-4 min. Car runs, idles fine seems to have plenty of power. No fluids in the oil, antifreze, or transmission that shouldnt be there. Thanks in advance for any further info. Or let me know if you think it needs a new engine ect. I hope not it runs too good seems like there would be an easier fix????

the smoke of your from your engine is normally caused rom ur cataylatic converter. This is a hose that goes from ur intake manifold to your catayltic converter (main converter). Make sure its hooked up correctly. Depending on how long you been driving without that hooked up could clog it. This happened to my exhuast when i was rebuilding my rx7. Simple fix. The caty needs air to burn the fumes.

I would not recommend to find one to repair the coolant seal. Id fix it yourself. It be rare to find someone that could fix it and if u did you prolly be paying a pretty penny.

I WOULD recommend finding someone else to repair your coolant seal, chances are they know how to repair it better than a do-it-yourself-er would. Rotary engine rebuilders are NOT rare.

My 1991 rx7 has a pipe sent from the intake manifold to the catalytic converter. Its meant to feed oxygen to continue burning its by products. If they dont burn, the caty will get clogged esspecially over time. When i didnt have it connected and ran it, mad white smoke came out. hooked it up, it was perfect.

Anyways, In rochester, ny u wont find many rx7 rebuilders. i guess its just the weather lol. trust me ive asked around.

If this doesnt help. im sorry.

Anyone who starts off a techinical post stating "smoke is usually caused by your catalytic converter", clearly doesn't have a grasp on how things work. So you aren't in any position to be telling people how the EGR system works and how it prevents "mad white smoke yo" from coming out of your exhaust.
