okay, so my spark plug wires are finally in. i also have my new plugs. while my old plugs are in, should i do the ATF trick, or should i just put in the new plugs, wires, and crank it up? the car has been sitting for almost 2 weeks now.

also, the ATF that i bought has stop-leak in it, is this okay?

I would use MMO instead of ATF, and be sure to change the plugs

and oil afterwords. use the old plugs to burn out all the MMO.

i would jsut start it, unless you hate your neighbors

i have no MMO (magic mystery oil, right?), and i'm going to do this tomorrow. its been a year since the engine was rebuilt, and i dont really feel like changing the oil tomorrow after i have done the ATF trick.

the rx7.com tech write-up ( http://www.rx7.com/tech/unflood-fc.html ) says nothing about changing the plugs or oil after the ATF trick, although it does suggest changing it due to gasoline contamination caused by flooding. i will change the oil next time i get my car up on jack stands, maybe this weekend.

any who, the ATF with STOP-LEAK is okay to use? judging from the old plugs, i would say the engine could use an ATF cleaning, but i dont have 24 hrs to let it sit...

i think i'm just going to pull the old plugs, crank it for 15 sec, put the new plugs and wires back on my car, and see if it will start up.

I MISS MY CAR! it's been 2 weeks since i've driven it, and i'm going into boost withdrawl. my old, rattley, 86 NA auto that i've been driving in the mean time is only serving to make things worse

RX7Aggie 07-23-2003 10:49 AM

IT'S ALIVE!

i cranked with the plugs out, got a little bit of vapor (ahh, that sweet smell of gas), put the new plugs in, and it started up like a gem, although it took a couple of seconds of cranking.

and now back to making my custom CAI, then we'll see how it runs when i'm done...
