I have had ny rxy for about 4 months with a bad motor. I found a used one and put it in. I finally got done with it about 1 week ago and started it right up. Wonderfull. it purred for about 10 min no prob so i shut it off and went in side. came back out to test drive it and craked it ...the rpm's went up but the car didnt start. did that 3 times then it decided to just turn over and wont do any thing else. it has new plugs wires and coils. ANy help would be appreciated.

If you look on the driver's side in the engine bay you should see the main fuse box. Pull the EGI COMP and the EGI INJ fuses out and remove the trailing spark plugs from the motor. Then crank the motor over for 20-30 seconds. What you are doing is disabling the fuel pump, and the spark, that way any fuel that has built up will be expelled through either the trailiing plug holes or the exhaust. The car may try and start without the plugs in. If it does catch turn it off. Replace the trailing spark plugs and wires, and replace both the fuses and try starting it again. This is a fairly easy trick to do. If it doesn't work let us know, and we'll see what else we can throw at you. Welcome to the boards, and the rotary community by the way.

you dont need to mess with that if it's an S5, just put the peddle to the floor and that'll cut the fuel.. if it only does it after it's been run then shut off, then i'd send your injectors out and get em cleaned

ok, tried the trick with removing the fuses under the hood, and taking out the trailing plugs. The car will turn over, but still wont crank up. You can fumes of fuel after trying to crank it. And sometimes it will crank up for just a second, but then it will die, even if i put the peddle to the floor while it cranks it doesnt make a difference. I had somebody tell me it might be the ecu messing up. Please help me somebody.

keep trying to start it the way where you take the fuses out. if it starts for a second it should be almost there and cranking it 20 more seconds with the egi fuse out should get it going.



ps just remove the fuse in the main fuse block thats labeled "EGI"

In an S5, flooring the pedal during start-up will cut the fuel. Just let it sit for a while, pull the plugs, dry them off and let it sit. You should test the coils/ignitors to see that you are getting spark as well.

Change the plugs after that too.

What year is the car? Try cranking it for a longer period of time. You should also test as said to ensure that you have adequate spark. A quick cheap way to do this, is to get an extra good spark plug. Pull one of the plug wires, and attach it to the good spark plug, place the plug on the side of the engine compartment, and have a friend turn the car over for a second, you should see the plug spark. Replace the plug wire and try each one. Make sure that you are not touching car, spark plug, or plug wire, when it is being cranked over. And make sure that you have all of the plug holes filled with a spark plug, you don't want fuel getting out while you're testing for spark. Good luck.

just test for spark by sticking a screwdriver in the end of your spark plug wire and hold the screwdriver shaft a 1/4 inch away from the block to see the spark jump

Your a brave ****. I don't trust the properties of rubber and plastic that much.
