Hello all, I'm trying to get my car in a passing condition for emissions (smog) any ideas on what i can do to improve or make it pass?

Try searching for it...I dont know anything about that, being as we don't have emissions here, but this has been discussed many times...



Sorry its not a straight up answer though...

You are going to have to give a little more information about your car.



For instance, if you don't have an air pump, acv, EGR valve, cats, etc... you will never pass. And the answer would be to put all this **** back on your car.



If you still have all this stuff and you still do not pass then you should trouble shoot each part of the emissions controls including the ECU and find out what the problem is.



Give us more information and someone here can probably help you out.



And by the way, aftermarket cats (the so-called hi performance or hi-flow) won't cut the mustard if they are, lets say, more than a year or 2 old.

I heard a mix of Denatured Alcohol will make you pass. I heard you can buy a gallon @ Home Depot. After you pass with it you should drain it from your tank as it is very corrosive... but you will pass. Search the newsgroups for more info.

basically if the tps, main cat and the air pump air control vale work it should pass

Agreed, I used it for my car when I had to take emissions. Use like 20oz(give or take) with like a quater of a tank of gas then take your emissions. I passed with flying colors because of it.

thanks a lot everyone. I already took the smog check, it passed but i just want to really improve it. Everything is still in the car, the cat i changed by getting it from an FC that passed (my friend's old one). I just changed the charcoal canistor and it made a difference. Should I look through anything else? Oh yeah, I was also thinking of changing the intake...not the whole system just the filter and air flow tubing connected to the filter. Any ideas on that? I was also planning on a headlight conversion to something like this what do you guys think. Again THANK YOU ALL

Oh yeah, one more thing I almost forgot. What could cause my idling to fluctuate? It sometimes idles lower than it's suppose to. Help please
