just don't tell your buyer about that little incident...("if he can't put a battery in, he probably doesn't know how to change the oil...")

(not saying that's how I think, but how a buyer might think)

Hehe, luckily for me I'm too lazy to change the oil, and just take it to a service station for that. Otherwise I'd probably find some way to screw that up, and fill the car with cat food or something.

In my defense, I still maintain that the rest of the civilized world feels that the black terminal is generally the negative one. Or is that just some misconception I've had all my life?

Holy crap, I think I had the damn battery in backwards. I would now like to submit my nomination for dumbass of the year. I'm just one new fuse away from testing this out, but the lights work now.

Who puts a black rubber cover over the positive battery terminal?

I have a black 1gauge battery wire on the battery in my Jeep, Its some special wire because it splits into 2 wire because I have 2 solenoids in the truck, one for the plow, but it came with a nice bright ass red "+" sticker to put on the ends of it.

Whoever put that black cover over the terminal probably only had that laying around.
